Assassin's Creed Valhalla finally received its anticipated "Last Chapter" DLC, which aims to draw the rollercoaster saga of protagonist Eivor Varinsdottir to a satisfying end. As a free expansion, Last Chapter is predictably short and to the point, consisting of two distinct quests that serve significantly different purposes.
While the main bulk of the Last Chapter DLC for Assassin's Creed Valhalla has Eivor saying her goodbyes to key figures from the mainline narrative before she embarks for the Americas, the other quest heavily features a character called Roshan. Roshan makes her franchise debut within this quest, but fans of the wider series will already know the figure from promotional material for the upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage.
Roshan in Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Last Chapter DLC
The Last Chapter DLC's "Raven and the Cuckoo" quest heavily features Roshan. The quest sees Eivor following a lead as to what group is behind a foiled attack on his clan territory of Ravensthorpe. Upon tracking down the attackers, they are masterfully dispatched in a plume of smoke, with the character of Roshan revealing herself once the smoke clears.
Both Eivor and Roshan form a tentative alliance, with the two characters having mutual enemies at a nearby fortified location. The fort is home to the Earl of Westerna, mastermind behind the recent attacks on Ravensthorpe; as well as Al-Si'la, a character who Roshan hints is a member of the Order of the Ancients. Upon killing their respective targets, both Eivor and Roshan go their separate ways, having bonded over their mutual fighting prowess.
Roshan In Assassin's Creed Mirage
Assassin's Creed Mirage is a highly anticipated upcoming title, set to take place in the Middle East shortly before the events of Valhalla. Mirage will feature Basim Ibn Ishaq as its protagonist, who many will remember from his important role in Valhalla's main story. As a prequel, it is likely that Mirage will depict Basim's internal struggle with Loki, as well as his induction into the Hidden Ones - the precursor organization of the Assassin Brotherhood.
Mirage is also set to return the franchise back to its smaller-scale roots, and will reportedly do away with the RPG mechanics of modern Assassin's Creed in favor of more traditional platforming gameplay. Given this scale, it is likely that Mirage will have a heightened focus on narrative via layered and memorable character portrayals, as opposed to through large-scale environments and set pieces.
Roshan is a high-ranking member of the Hidden Ones and the mentor to Basim, who is set to be a central character in Mirage. Promotional material for Mirage indicates that Roshan stumbled across Basim in the streets of Baghdad and molded him into a Master Assassin over the course of many years. Roshan is voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo, an esteemed actress with a trademark voice, further reinforcing the focus on characters that Mirage will likely employ.
Valhalla depicts Roshan beyond the scope of events that Mirage will cover, where she hints at having left the Hidden Ones for some time before reluctantly rejoining to hunt Templars around the globe. Despite the small-scale of her cameo in Valhalla, it is a clear indicator of the importance she will possess in the narrative of Assassin's Creed Mirage.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
