In Summer 2004, fans began requesting an Astro Bot PS5 controller, as a DualSense seemed to appear in the game's original trailer. Sony listened, and it wasn't long before a special-edition peripheral made its way to the PlayStation Store.

However, according to the game's director, Nicolas Doucent, the device will include a "special twist to the touch pad." It's unclear what this update will entail or when pre-orders will begin, but fans are urged to keep an eye on the official PlayStation store. As with the peripherals' initial release, there will likely only be limited stock available, and it is currently unclear whether the price will remain at $79.99.

The return of this highly sought-after DualSense controller wasn't the only news regarding the popular platformer to be shared during the livestream. Astro Bot is getting some additional challenge levels on July 10, bringing the total number of planets in the game to 90. The game has continued to see a steady stream of DLC since its release, with a March Astro Bot update introducing the incredibly tough Hard to Bear level and a new Bot inspired by The Order 1886's Sir Galahad.

In February, Sony President Hiroki Totoki confirmed that the company is planning to release more games like Astro Bot in the future, putting a stronger focus on family-friendly titles. As of November 2024, Astro Bot had sold 1.5 million units, and it is estimated that the title has made back its budget by a whopping 10 times. A movie inspired by the game is also potentially in the cards, with Sony expressing interest in the project.
