The outlaws of Atomfall are clever enough to lay down traps for the player to run into at every turn. Some of these will make enough noise to catch the attention of mobs of enemies, and others will set off bombs, spikes, and molotov cocktails that will deal massive damage.
Atomfall: Deluxe Edition & Preorder Rewards
Atomfall Deluxe Edition and Quarantine Edition offer players special in-game rewards, DLC access, and the ability to play Atomfall early.
These traps are annoying, often blocking ways for players to progress or access special loot. That said, they aren't impossible to get around. For those wondering, here's how to disarm traps in Atomfall and score some useful crafting materials by doing so.
What Do Traps In Atomfall Look Like?
The traps in Atomfall aren't very elaborate. They tend to comprise a simple tripwire attached to something that will inflict some major pain. If the player isn't looking at the ground, it's very easy to miss them and walk right through a trap, which will set off an explosion or alarm.
These will often be laid in front of doorways and entrances of buildings, although they can be encountered in grassy areas as well. They tend to appear most often around areas that are inhabited by roaming gangs of outlaws or druids. If you're entering a building where the enemies are primarily human, there's a good chance that tripwire traps will make an appearance.
How To Disarm Traps In Atomfall
For most of the beginning of Atomfall, players will be unable to deactivate traps, as they will lack the skill needed to do so. This means that areas blocked by tripwires will either need to be avoided or jumped over carefully.
To disarm the traps, players need to accumulate special items called Training Stimulants. These allow skills to be unlocked from the Skills tab from the in-game menu. They can be found all over, although they're commonly found inside of crates marked with the initials B.A.R.D., which is a special military unit in the world of Atomfall.
Once 3 Training Stimulants have been found, they can be spent to activate the aptly-named skill, Disarm Traps, which is found in the bottom left corner of the Survival skill tree. Once this skill has been unlocked, the player will be able to disarm traps by walking up to them without setting them off.
The process of disarming them is fairly simple; the player just needs to look at one of the red ends of the trip wire and then follow the prompt to cut it. When this is done, the trap will be destroyed, and the player will acquire any crafting materials that were used to create the trap.
