Wyndham Village is the most civilized area in all of Atomfall. It has shops where you can barter for goods, people who won't immediately try to kill you, and even a lovely church. However, it still has its fair share of secrets, including what's hiding underneath the church, locked away in a cellar that no one knows how to open.
There is a way to get into the church cellar, but you'll need to find the key first. Thankfully, its location isn't lost to time, and it can be recovered. The only problem is that retrieving it requires you to delve into the depths of the mysterious Interchange facility.
Atomfall: Comic Locations (Avid Collector Trophy Guide)
Classic comic books are spread out across the quarantine zone of Atomfall. Here's where to find them all.
Where To Find The St. Katherine's Church Cellar
St. Katherine's Church is located at the coordinates 33.0 E, 78.8 N in Wyndham Village. It shouldn't be too hard to find as it's along the path to the village if you enter from Slatten Dale. Then you can walk up to the church and enter to see Vicar McHenry and a woman named Pamela Shaw standing over a dead body. If you speak with them, you'll start the St. Katherine's Church side quest, where you can discover who committed the murder.
But that's not why you've come to the church for now. If you want to find the cellar, look for stairs leading down into an area that looks like a mausoleum. Down here will be a wooden door that will be locked. If you ask Vicar McHenry about it, he'll say that the key was lost a long time ago, and he has no idea how to open up the cellar. So where could that key be?
How To Find The Church Cellar Key
If you want to find the Church Cellar Key, you first need to power up The Interchange. This is the facility where experiments were conducted that caused the sorry state of Atomfall's quarantine zone. You'll need to get inside and follow the signs to reach the Central Processor Room. In there, you'll need to use a special item called an Atomic Battery to power up a console called the Bootstrap System Terminal. This will restore power to most of The Interchange, but there will be sections that require extra electricity.
You'll then have to gather more Atomic Batteries and use them to restore power to four different Data Stores to get the facility back up and running. But to find the Church Cellar Key, we only need to power up Data Store Charlie. Enter that area, head to the second level, and you'll be able to insert an Atomic Battery into a device that will reactivate the Data Store. Head to the lower level, where you can use the lock release to exit out into an open area that leads to the Medical department, which is where you need to go to find the key.
You can also reach Medical through Data Store Alpha, although that area will be covered in blue mist that inflicts the infected status effect. It's better to power up this Data Store later in the game after you've learned the Strange Tonic recipe, which will cure infection.
Head across the open area to some yellow double doors, go upstairs, and then take a left. You'll find another lock release that will open up a quarantine shutter. The entrance to Medical will be on the other side. This area can be dangerous since powerful enemies called Thralls will be roaming its halls. Luckily, the Church Cellar Key isn't far from the entrance. Just head right from the Reception area, and then go right again to find a small alcove with a lit lantern. Here, you'll find an audio log recorded by a scientist named Dr. Fisher, who will speak about another scientist named Dr. Holder, who set up a secret laboratory underneath St. Katherine's Church.
Next to that audio log will be the Church Cellar Key. So now you can return to the church in Wyndham Village and see what's happening in that cellar.
