Atomic Heart is a first-person action RPG set in an alternate-history Soviet Union, where robots designed to help humanity turn against it after a disastrous malfunction. The game is often compared to BioShock for its similar themes and visual style, but Atomic Heart received mixed reviews at launch, partly because many felt it didn’t quite meet the standards set by BioShock. So far, two DLC expansions have been released. Annihilation Instinct came out in August 2023, continuing the story after the main game and introducing new locations. The second DLC, Trapped in Limbo, was released in February 2024, offering a fresh experience set in the surreal Limbo dimension and carrying the story forward from Annihilation Instinct. Recently, the developer announced a new DLC scheduled to arrive in 2025.
