Atomic Heart is an open world FPS with some horror, survival, and RPG elements thrown in. The story of Atomic Heart takes place in a massive, floating facility called Facility 3826. The once pristine facility is now a post-apocalyptic nightmare. All the robots operating in the facility suddenly went berserk and killed their human comrades. Players take on the role of Agent P-3, who was sent to the facility to investigate the incident.
P-3 shows up unprepared for what awaits him in the facility. As he explores the grounds, he’ll have to piece together whatever weaponry he can manage to craft out of robotic scraps, organic goop, and spare modules. As a result, most weapons in Atomic Heart look like they came out of a Mad Max arsenal.
How Atomic Heart Rewards Crafting Recipes
There are many great weapons to experience in the game. Many of them can be modified in some truly impressive ways. But that’s not the only type of recipe Agent P-3 can find in Facility 3826. There are recipes for every item P-3 can use and players can find those recipes in chests scattered throughout the facility.
There are many types of crafting recipes in the game, but they’re acquired in only one of two ways: Special Weapon Upgrades are acquired in Testing Grounds, and everything else is acquired randomly in chests. When a player will get a recipe is randomized, but what the player gets is determined by a loose order.
For example, players looking for the recipe for the Zvezdochka, won’t find it in one specific place. Instead, they need to get all the other recipes that come before Zvezdochka first. Then, whenever they loot a chest, they'll have a chance to find it.
To find the recipes for Zvezdochka, Fat Boy, Makaraov Pistol, Large Neuromed Capsules and anything else as soon as possible, players need to find and loot every chest they can. The more they loot, the faster they’ll move through the list of possible recipes to acquire. Players should especially look out for red and gold chests, as they seem to contain recipes more often than gray and green ones.
Where to Find Each Special Weapon Upgrade Recipe
The weapon modifications that Agent P-3 can find in random chests are great on their own. They provide a decent improvement to each of the weapons’ stats. However, the recipes for Special Weapon Upgrade that can be found in Testing Grounds are truly unique. They each offer a specific trait that fundamentally changes the way the weapon can be used.
