This article contains heavy spoilers for the Demon Slayer movie and manga, as well as spoilers for the Attack on Titan series.
Attack on Titan, an anime that started back in 2013, quickly gained popularity with its first season. The Attack on Titan story is incredible, but what really caught the attention of fans initially wasn’t that. Instead, the brutality of the story earned it quite a unique reputation in the world of anime. Attack on Titan was gruesome from the very beginning, with the fall of the Wall, and it only got worse with each passing episode. No character was safe from death and that's what made it special. Characters kept dying throughout the story, and in the end, a lot of the main cast did make it after the Final War.
Demon Slayer's Greatest Movie Has Officially Been Surpassed
Demon Slayer's legendary movie has officially been surpassed by a movie even bigger.
In the department of deaths, Attack on Titan has competition now, thanks to Demon Slayer. While it starts more tame, it ends up killing the majority of the Hashira, who are some of the most beloved characters in the franchise. Demon Slayer’s Infinity Castle movies are definitely going to be quite tragic for viewers, and it all starts with Shinobu Kocho.
No Character is Safe in Attack On Titan, But Demon Slayer Has Been Delivering Even Better Deaths
Shinobu Kocho Is Killed in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle
Attack on Titan is a gruesome anime where nobody is truly safe, and fans are always on the edge of their seats. The world is dangerous, and anyone can die anytime. This was evident from the very first episode of the series when the wall was breached, and Eren’s mother was brutally devoured right in front of his eyes. Things get even worse later on, as characters like Marco and Levi’s squad are brutally murdered not long after. However, when the war with Marley starts, casualties for the main characters, at the very least, aren’t too heavy. Most of the main cast, including the likes of Mikasa, Armin, and Levi, among others, do survive.
Demon Slayer Will Officially Kill Anime Forever
Demon Slayer's movies are a huge hit, but they are ruining anime.
On the other hand, Demon Slayer is only about to get more gruesome the more the story progresses. The only important character that was previously killed was Rengoku, but with the Infinity Castle trilogy, many more characters are about to die. In the first movie, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1, fans have lost one of the Hashira, Shinobu. Her death is quite brutal, but it won’t go to waste.
Shinobu Is Dead, And More Demon Slayers Are About To Follow
- Most of the Hashira Will Meet Their End Before Demon Slayer’s Conclusion
- The Battles Against Muzan and Kokushibo Will Be Brutal
Shinobu is the only major character to die in Part 1 of the Infinity Castle trilogy, but more tragedy is about to unfold. With Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2, Kokushibo’s battle will begin, and Muichiro, the youngest Hashira, is going to die brutally. Genya is also about to be killed in this same movie. The most tragic movie, however, is the last one. In the battle against Muzan, every Hashira will die one way or another, save for two survivors — Sanemi and Giyu.
It is no surprise to know that fans have fallen in love with the Hashira over the years, and now, they'll fall in front of their eyes one by one, leaving behind just a handful of survivors. Demon Slayer truly has a bittersweet conclusion lined up, and in terms of the deaths of important and loved characters, it has definitely beaten Attack on Titan at its own game.
Demon Slayer Infinity Castle is available to watch in theatres right now. Fans who don’t want to wait for the movies to drop can check out the manga on Manga Plus. Meanwhile, for the anime, the series currently has 4 anime seasons. These anime seasons can all be found on Crunchyroll. The remaining series will, however, be animated into movies, which fans will have to wait for their theatrical release to watch, depending on their country.
