Understanding Attributes and Attribute Anomalies is crucial for players when it comes to planning and executing fights effectively in Zenless Zone Zero. Each character possesses an Attribute, which functions like elements in traditional RPGs, allowing them to interact in various ways with each other and the enemies.

Currently, there are five different Attributes that Agents are categorized with in Zenless Zone Zero: Fire, Ice, Electric, Physical, and Ether. Each of these Attributes has its own corresponding Anomalies, which are essentially effects and debuffs that can be applied to enemies. Fans of HoYoverse's other RPG, Honkai: Star Rail, may find that Attribute Anomalies functions similarly to Break Effect.

Zenless Zone Zero: Character Specialty, Explained (Class/Role)

Here's everything players need to know about character specialty in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), including their roles and available Agents.

How Do Attribute Anomalies Work?

zenless_zone_zero_attribute_buildup_example
ZZZ attribute buildup example

When characters deal Attribute (elemental) damage to an enemy, the target will accumulate what is called an Attribute Anomaly Buildup. The buildup is shown around an Attribute icon on the right side of an enemy's HP bar, indicating the most recent Attribute damage received. Once the buildup is full, a corresponding Attribute Anomaly is dealt to the enemy. For example, after a character like Koleda causes enough Fire damage, the enemy will be inflicted with the Fire Anomaly, applying the Burn debuff, which deals Fire damage over time (DoT).

The two most important stats for Attribute Anomalies are Anomaly Mastery and Anomaly Proficiency. Anomaly Mastery increases the efficiency at which a character accumulates Attribute Anomaly Buildup on a target, while Anomaly Proficiency increases the damage dealt by the Anomaly that the character triggers.

Multiple Attribute Anomaly Buildups can exist simultaneously, allowing players to swap between different Attribute characters in combat without disrupting buildup progress. Keep in mind, the indicator icon will constantly swap to the latest Attribute dealt, so players need to be mindful of their other buildups to avoid premature activations. This is important because, unlike buildups, new Attribute Anomalies override any existing ones on the target. However, this isn't always a disadvantage due to Attribute Anomaly - Disorder.

What is Attribute Anomaly - Disorder?

zenless_zone_zero_disorder

Disorder is a large instance of damage that occurs when a different Attribute Anomaly overrides an existing one on the enemy target. This is an important damage source for some multi-Attribute team compositions, especially ones that include characters with the Anomaly specialty. The game is not clear on the exact damage calculations of Disorder, but it hints that the initial Anomaly's potency and the speed at which the second Anomaly is applied both influence the damage output. While Disorder is universal for all Attributes, fans of Genshin Impact will notice some similarities to Elemental Reaction.

Don't go into the Hollows.
I know, I know, there's Ether in the Hollows, bizarre creations, even heritage of the old civilization, all precious treasures. But don't forget, there's also spatial disorder, monsters and mutants running rampant, and ultimately, a disaster that could swallow the world. They are not a place where ordinary people should go.
So don't go into Hollows.
Or at least, don't go in alone.
If you insist on getting into danger, go to New Eridu first.
This city where the good and the bad mix has many people who need the Hollows: Powerful wealthy tycoons, gangs that stalk the streets, conspiracy nuts, and ruthless officials.
Make your preparations there, find strong allies, and most importantly—
Find a "Proxy".
Only they can guide people out of the maze-like Hollows.
Good luck!
