Romantic Killer is far from being a classic Shojo or Isekai series, as Anzu Hoshino would like nothing more than to avoid adventure or romance (unless it is conveniently packaged in a fictitious video game format, that is.) Destined to live out her life in solitude with only her cat, Momohiki to keep her company, Anzu comfortably settles into isolation, however, an intrusive Wizard has other plans in store.

Anzu's former life is replaced with an alternate reality that is chock-a-block with hot hunks and awkward meet-cutes, which she is determined to dodge at all costs. This cynical, sarcastic, and boisterous Otaku certainly has her work cut out for her, but she is not alone in the battle against lust, love, and everything in between.

8 I'm The Villainess So I'm Taming the Final Boss

I'm The Villainess, So I'm Taming The Final Boss anime

Much like Anzu, Aileen Lauren Dautriche is also transported into one of her favorite gaming scenarios, and likewise, things don't exactly go according to plan. Instead of landing with her bum in the butter, Aileen finds herself fulfilling the Villainess' role and is promptly dumped by Prince Cedric, her fiancé, and publically humiliated in the process.

Dusting herself off, Aileen ridicules the concept of romance and decides to go after a more lucrative relationship, subsequently seeking out her ex's brother, the Demon King Claude. The sly seductress gets her foot in the door by proposing a mutually beneficial business-type arrangement to the fearsome ruler, however, it doesn't take them long to fall down the rabbit hole of romance during their schemes and antics together.

7 My Dress-Up Darling

My Dress-Up Darling anime

Loud and proud Otaku girls don't always get the spotlight, especially when they don't conform to gender stereotypes and have wild, disorderly characteristics. Marine Kitagawa is just as into video games as Anzu is, however, she pays significantly greater attention to her appearance than the redhead and has an obsession with cosplay instead of cats.

Marin finds herself incapable of following her dreams due to her less-than-adequate sewing skills but is lucky enough to stumble across the awkward yet handsome Wakana Gojo. An Accidental Harem subsequently ensues as other cosplay enthusiasts vie for the introvert's attention, while Marine (like Anzu) does her utmost best to act nonchalant to hide her true feelings.

6 Nekopara (PG Version)

Nekopara_After_La_Vraie_Famille

Anzu's brain would probably implode if she were Isekai'd into Nekopara instead, as this anime is a Cat lover's Paradise! This overall wholesome storyline has a similar comedic Slice-of-Life style as Romantic Killer does (however, with a more erogenous twist) and follows Kashou and Shigure Minazuki as they form their own little family of catgirls.

These adorable feline-human hybrids often pose as Maids who humorously attempt to assimilate into the "pet" lifestyle, forming a uniquely lovable Harem in the process. The romance element of the anime is much tamer than in the visual novels, as Kashou's main focus is on opening his patisserie, "La Soleil" than on cultivating a love life. The "will they, won't they" trope is still in play, but significantly more toned down.

5 Kiss Him, Not Me

Kiss Him, Not Me

After a fictional disaster strikes and Kae Serinuma's favorite anime character meets an untimely death, this otaku is overwhelmed with despair and locks herself away in mourning. When she finally emerges a week later, Kae has shed some pounds to reveal the alluring physique hidden beneath, which suddenly captivates the attention of many of her classmates.

As with Anzu, Kae is displeased about suddenly becoming the focal point of a Harem, as she is not burdened by tender feelings towards any of these boys. She would rather remain in her self-constructed yaoi fantasy world, where Yūsuke, Nozomu, Hayato, and Asuma form their own sultry relationship dynamic with each other (without Kae!)

4 Spy X Family

Spy X Family Yor and Loid Forger

Two people of the opposite sex find themselves suddenly living together whilst remaining impartial to any encroaching affectionate developments; sounds like Anzu and Kazuki (and Junta), although Yuri and Loid Forger have similar issues to battle (and many more!) Both hiding their secret identities, this spy and assassin form a pseudo-family with the help of the lovable Anya and her trusty pooch, Bond, who has some classified information of her own to guard.

Although Spy X Family is far from being Isekai, it certainly follows an alternative narrative, with its uniquely action-packed, supernatural, secret agent comedic factors, all packed into one cute package. While the fate of Japan lies on Anzu's shoulders, Loid is responsible for Ostania's future and needs Anya's full cooperation if he hopes to succeed.

3 Bee And PuppyCat

Bee And Puppycat_Other Realms

Bee doesn't quite grasp the concept of meeting societal expectations (similar to another leading lady) and finds it impossible to hold down a job for long enough to make any significant progress in her life. She is not, however, visited by a weird meddlesome wizard, but she does find a magical cat/dog-type creature, who transports Bee to alternate dimensions along with a list of chores to accomplish.

PuppyCat discovered the dangers of love the hard way, after falling for the wrong Princess, and is cursed to live out his remaining days in an animalistic form. This does nothing to perturb Bee from cultivating a blushing 'friendship' with Deckard (eloquently named after Diablo III's mighty Wizard.)

Watamote tomoko in her usual state

Tomoko Kuroki and Anzu are practically soul sisters, both opting to spend the majority of their time surrounded by fictional suitors than authentic companions. After completing her "training" and accumulating enough dating sim experience, the awkward high schooler attempts to tackle the world head-on but quickly realizes that virtual life lessons aren't always suitable for real-life application.

This anti-heroine is not the most likable character around, as she seems pretty incapable of acting "normal" in front of others and has a mean temper on her. Tomoko's graceless, unladylike demeanor inspires much discontent from her classmates (which is probably why she dove into her video game obsession in the first place!)

1 Uncle From Another World

Uncle From Another World Episode 2 SEGA Saturn Kousuke

This Uncle's skills in the romance department are essentially on the same level as Anzu's, as this Ojisan would much rather spend the rest of his days alongside his beloved SEGA consoles than any of the dazzling beauties that throw themselves at him. After spending seventeen years trapped in an alternate dimension and essentially hunted for being too ugly, Ojisan has finally made his way back from Granbahamal with his magic still intact, perfect for YouTube content creation!

Between all the accidental proposals, provocative positionings, and flirtatious banter, Ojisan remains completely oblivious to his Harem's affections but is somehow attentive enough to note the tentative romance developing between Takafumi and his childhood friend, Fujimiya.
