The One Piece manga has been taking more frequent breaks, something that concerns many fans. This can definitely be hard to deal with, but fans finally got some good news concerning the upcoming One Piece chapter.

The One Piece Manga is Returning From A Break

One Piece Returns With Chapter 1157 On August 17

August hasn’t been the best month for One Piece fans. After all, the manga went on a break last week, after just returning from one. This is quite frustrating to many fans, especially as the story is at a very exciting point where Roger, Rocks, and many other characters are being shown during their youth days.

Thankfully, the sad wait is over, and fans can now be relieved to know that their favorite manga is returning, and very soon. The next One Piece chapter, One Piece 1157, is scheduled to make its return this Sunday, on August 17, 2025, to be exact

Fans are definitely hoping there won’t be any more breaks for the month of August, but that remains to be seen.

Why Has The One Piece Manga Been Going On So Many Breaks?

  • Oda Needs More Rest Time
  • Shonen Jump Magazine Sometimes Goes on Break

All the recent breaks have raised a huge question for the fans, and that is why One Piece is taking so many breaks. The answer to this question isn’t straightforward, as there are various factors that affect the publication of the One Piece manga.

Last week, for example, was out of Oda’s control. Indeed, last week, there was a holiday in Japan. When that happens, the entirety of Weekly Shonen Jump goes on break. This happens at least a few times a year.

Other than that, breaks are mostly due to Oda. Eiichiro Oda has been working on One Piece for over 28 years, and the work doesn’t get any easier. Being a mangaka takes a lot of effort, and this life offers little to no rest time. Oda taking breaks is important for his own health. After all, he isn’t that young anymore and this kind of work takes a toll on him. Oda is still one of the more consistent mangakas, so fans should cut him some slack.

One Piece Chapter 1157 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on August 17. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1157 is August 17, 2025. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
