About Eva Martinello

Eva Martinello is a Final Fantasy XIV Writer at The Best War Games from Paris, France. Crafting engaging stories and guides on the game is the perfect match between two of her passions: the FF title and writing. She discovered the critically acclaimed MMO on the first day of the COVID lockdown and has been playing with her Au Ra character ever since, from the Savage Raid grind to the cosy Gold Saucer minigames. Outside the world of Eorzea, she started writing about esports in top French outlets in 2017, and has expanded her fields of expertise over the years. She has traveled to a dozen places around the world to cover esports tournaments such as the LoL World Championship and to test out demos at Bungie, Ubisoft, and more studios. In addition to writing, she plays a part in the industry by working in a publisher's editorial team since the beginning of 2024.

Industry Focus

Eva has been advocating for more diversity in the industry for years, both through writing and volunteering. She has also taken an interest in crafting profile stories on under-appreciated talents in esports, such as analysts and dedicated community members. She loves to dissect the production stages of a game, from the birth of an idea to its release, and write about the different jobs in the industry, from the perspective of both indie studios and AAA companies.

Proudest Gaming Achievement

Clearing Baldesion Arsenal on FFXIV. It took her over 50 hours to finish every Eureka area, and a great deal of focus not to mess up as a healer (she miserably died at the final boss' last attack on her first try). She had never experienced that much tension in the game before, not even during Savage Raid completion attempts. She now annoys her Free Company friends by showing off her Demi-Ozma mount whenever she has the chance.

Favorite Console

Eva primarily plays on a PC, using either a mouse and keyboard or a controller. However, she has a deep passion for Nintendo consoles. The first one she received was the Game Boy Color, and she has purchased virtually every subsequent model, including the DS and Switch. In her opinion, though, none can compare to the Game Boy Advance SP.
