About Holden Jones

Favorite TV Shows

Lost, to me, is one of the best shows of all time. No other show I've seen manages to catch my attention and get me as invested in the characters' lives and backstories. Plus, TV shows these days are too short- who can grow to love a character after only 10 episodes?

Favorite Console

I think in my hearts of hearts I'm a Nintendo guy. My first console was a Gameboy Color and I took that thing everywhere. Then, when the Wii came out I was head over heels for the creative and unique Wii-mote gameplay. And now, of course, I adore the portability of the Switch.

Favorite Movies

Two very different answers: Titanic and Inception. Both appeal to different parts of me. Titanic is peak cinematic drama and offers something for everyone. Inception itches the part of my brain that loves a sci-fi thriller, and it's always a treat to rewatch and see what new details I find.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's Switch 2 Edition Marks a Shift for Nintendo

Nintendo is bringing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to the Switch 2 as a launch title, and this upgraded re-release is shaping up to be the definitive version of the 2023 hit. Originally a massive success on the original Switch, Tears of the Kingdom built on the open-world design of Breath of the Wild with a bigger focus on creativity and player-driven mechanics. The new version takes advantage of the Switch 2’s upgraded hardware, adding 4K visuals, 60 FPS performance in docked mode, HDR support, and even a second save slot—letting returning players restart without wiping their progress.

Ex-Rockstar Dev Weighs In On Grand Theft Auto 6 Vs Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World is set to launch in just a few weeks, and Grand Theft Auto 6 is delayed to 2026, but that’s not stopping former Rockstar animator Mike York from weighing in on the two. York, who worked on both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, recently took to YouTube to analyze GTA 6’s second trailer and didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts. He praised the upcoming game’s staggering level of detail, especially its lighting, and speculated that visual fidelity like this may be part of why the game was pushed to May 2026. Using Mario Kart World as a benchmark, he argued that GTA 6 simply operates on a different level, saying: “you’ve got Mario Kart for $90 - you think Mario Kart competes with a game like this as far as how much stuff they’ve got to put into a game?”

Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Comments On Nintendo Switch 2 Key Card Controversy: Physical Media "Is Not Going Anywhere"

The Switch 2 isn’t even out yet, and it’s already stirring up debate—this time over its controversial new “key card” system. Unlike the original Switch cartridges, these cards don’t contain any actual game data. Instead, they just act as proof of purchase, requiring players to download the full game separately. Jan Rosner, VP of business development at CD Projekt, recently spoke out about the importance of physical editions in a new interview. Rosner emphasized that choosing to release a cartridge-based version of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for the Switch 2 was “the right thing to do,” saying developers shouldn’t underestimate the value of physical media—especially on Nintendo platforms

Grand Theft Auto 6 Website Reveals Game-Changing Lucia Connection

Grand Theft Auto 6 fans were hit with some disappointing news recently—the game’s release has officially been pushed back. But while the delay stings, Rockstar didn’t leave fans hanging. Thanks to new character bios on Rockstar’s updated GTA 6 website, we now know that Lucia spent part of her life in Liberty City, where she was raised by her mother. We also learned that her father taught her how to fight at a young age, and she eventually ends up in prison for what’s described as “fighting for her family.” That phrase alone hints at deeper personal stakes and may help explain the motivations behind her criminal path.

The Next Animal Crossing Could Work Wonders With a New Switch 2 Feature

Nintendo hasn’t announced a new Animal Crossing yet, but let’s be honest—it’s only a matter of time. With the Switch 2 on the horizon, it’s practically guaranteed that the next entry in the series will end up on Nintendo’s new hardware. And while the more powerful tech will bring obvious benefits like better visuals and faster load times, it’s actually one of the Switch 2’s new social features that could be a real game-changer. That feature is GameChat, a built-in voice chat system exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Unlike the awkward voice chat options on the original Switch, GameChat is baked directly into the console and is meant to provide a smoother, more integrated multiplayer experience. For a franchise like Animal Crossing—where social interaction is the whole point—that could make a huge difference.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Developers and Journalists Not Surprised by Delay to 2026

Grand Theft Auto 6 has officially been delayed to May 26, 2026, pushing it out of its originally planned 2025 release window. Rockstar Games had long maintained that GTA 6 would launch sometime in Fall 2025, but new reports suggest the studio was aware for months that this wasn’t realistic. Journalist Jason Schreier reported that “nobody I’ve talked to at Rockstar has believed Fall 2025 was a real window for a very long time now,” pointing to internal doubts and an overwhelming workload.

The Switch 2 Direct Forgot About a Beloved Nintendo Franchise

The long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 Direct finally delivered a detailed look at the next-gen console, from hardware specs to a packed lineup of upcoming games. But while many fans came away excited, others—particularly fans of Nintendo’s cozier franchises—felt a little let down. Chief among the disappointments was the complete absence of Animal Crossing, one of Nintendo’s most beloved and successful series. Given that it's been five years since the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, many assumed a new entry might be revealed at the Switch 2 showcase. Which would have made perfect sense—New Horizons was a major system-seller for the original Switch and remains a cultural touchstone. Yet Nintendo didn’t mention the franchise at all, not even to announce an upgraded version of New Horizons for the new hardware.

Troy Baker Shouldn’t Be the Only Last of Us Star to Join Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Before Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was officially revealed, Troy Baker was rumored to be involved in a new Naughty Dog project led by Druckmann. Now, with Druckmann confirmed as the writer and director of Intergalactic, it’s clear Baker will play a role in the sci-fi game rather than an unannounced title. His casting is expected to be a highlight, but it would be equally exciting if Last of Us co-star Ashley Johnson joined the project as well.

With The Last of Us Season 2 just weeks away, excitement is building, especially given the massive success of the first season. This time around, the show will have a darker tone and introduce several new characters, including Abby and Dina. HBO recently released a trailer highlighting the season’s intense action and heavier themes, including airborne spores and an all-out war between humans and the infected. One of the standout moments is a large-scale battle in Jackson, where a horde of infected storms the town, drawing comparisons to epic battles from Game of Thrones.

In an interview with the PlayStation Blog, Creative Director Stephen Lambert emphasized that the team is committed to honoring Tolkien’s vision, noting that Tolkien himself wanted others to contribute to his world, expanding what he considered a “mythology.”

Rumor: Major Publishers Looking to Delay Games Because of GTA 6

Rockstar Games' upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 is already causing major disruptions in the gaming industry, with reports suggesting that at least three major publishers are preparing to delay their releases to avoid launching near the highly anticipated title. While GTA 6 doesn’t have a specific release date yet, its fall 2025 launch window is enough to make publishers reconsider their schedules, fearing their games will be overshadowed. According to The Game Business, multiple executives have confirmed they are actively adjusting their release strategies to steer clear of GTA 6. Some publishers are shifting launch dates, while others are delaying major updates for live-service games to avoid losing player engagement.
