About Lloyd Regan

Lloyd has been gaming since he was a kid, getting absolutely crushed playing Aladdin on his Sega Mega Drive—and loving every second of it. Since then, he’s owned every console (yes, even the handhelds) and sunk a few thousand hours into a select few PC games—definitely not Diablo 2 and DOTA 2, of course. What started as a hobby slowly grew into a full-blown obsession, eventually leading him to study game design at university and earn a bachelor’s degree. It was there he discovered a true passion for worldbuilding and uncovered a talent for writing, earning particular praise for his game design documents. From there, he transitioned into professional writing, building over four years of experience in content writing across a wide range of fields. Drawing on both passion and knowledge, he began crafting guides, reviews, and opinion pieces—eventually landing a contributor role at TheBestWarGames.

Favorite Games

A fan of most genres, with a strong leaning toward action RPGs. Lloyds favorite game of all time is Kingdom Hearts 2—he’s still a sucker for some Keyblade action. But the best game he’s ever played is Elden Ring, thanks to its hauntingly beautiful take on dark fantasy, incredible combat, near-perfect open world design, phenomenal narrative, and—honestly—just about everything else about it!

Favorite Console

Lloyd’s favorite console is the PlayStation 2. The depth and breadth of games on that system were astounding, and as far as he’s concerned, no other console has matched it since. It introduced him to some of his favorite franchises like Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, and of course, Kingdom Hearts—but there are so many more! It was also a golden era for sequels; with 2–3 year development cycles, you never had to wait long for the next installment of your favorite series. Jak and Daxter even completed its entire trilogy on the PS2, something that seems impossible on current-gen systems. Ah, the good old days!

Proudest Gaming Achievement

Bloodborne was Lloyds first soulslike, and it changed the way he played games forever. He became completely obsessed with the beautiful nightmare that was Yharnam, but couldn’t shake the decades of button-mashing habits that had defined his approach to action games. After many years and many attempts, he finally ‘got good’ and managed to defeat every boss in the game, including the DLC—and damn, was it worth it. Not only did he witness the conclusion of one of the best games ever made, but he also picked up skills that have made him better at every game he’s played since. Thanks, Miyazaki!
