About Sami Scigouski

Sami Scigouski is a recent graduate from Miami University of Oxford with a BS in Games + Simulations. Her love of gaming started casually with a family Nintendo Wii but quickly grew into a more serious interest as she learned more about the development process behind them. Deciding to follow her passions into college, she earned her degree in game design and spent most of her time working with the Varsity Esports teams at Miami University as a photographer, journalist, and eventually as the head of the media production team. Her experience as both a creator of games and consumer of them gave her an appreciation for all things gaming and furthered her interest into the nitty gritty details within them. Her passion for games and their creation also awarded her “Excellence in Games + Simulation” for her game work done during university. Although she has played a wealth of various games, smaller indie titles will always be some of her favorites as they tend to offer the most heartfelt stories and interesting game mechanics. When not creating or playing games, Sami is often out competing nationally at horse shows with her horse Ace or playing frisbee with her corgi Winslow.

Favorite Games

Some of Sami's favorite games include Slime Rancher 2, Hades, Dead by Daylight, and the remake of Resident Evil 2. Its a weird mix, but she loves them all and somehow finds time to play all of them.

Proudest Gaming Achievement

Sami's proudest gaming achievement was competiing in an open Overwatch 2 tournament at the MEC grand finals LAN. Her team consisted of her, her esports coach, a Rocket League player, and two Super Smash Bros. players. They lost, horribly, but their team was still able to take a map off of one of the collegiate teams they faced!

Favorite Console

The Nintedo Wii will always hold a special place in Sami's heart as it was the first console she ever played on. The motion controls may be questionable at times, but they make for some fun and interesting gaming moments!
