About William Parks
William Parks is a The Best War Games editor from the USA. Upon graduating from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, William entered the realm of fine arts administration, assisting curators, artists, and fine art professionals with the realization of contemporary art exhibitions. All the while, William’s passion for games remained.
William’s first console was the NES, but when he was eight, it was The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening on Game Boy that fully cemented his interest in the format. This interest reached new heights with MMORPGs like Asheron’s Call 2, Star Wars Galaxies, and World of Warcraft, and it has now crystalized around indie games and unique releases.
Favorite Games
William's favorite games include Inscryption, Inside, Outer Wilds, Return of the Obra Dinn, and The Witness, indie games that offer truly unique experiences. That said, he would be remiss to ignore Asheron's Call 2, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, and Star Wars Galaxies, as those games played a critical role in developing his interest in the format.
Industry Focus
William focuses primarily on creating detailed strategy guides for a variety of new releases, from the biggest AAA titles to the most-intimate indies. While he finds something to enjoy in most of those releases, it is the puzzle-focused indie offerings and Nintendo's first-party games that appeal to him the most.
Proudest Gaming Achievement
William's proudest gaming achievement is unlocking the Jedi profession in Star Wars Galaxies, an MMORPG that was shut down in 2011, prior to the release of the NGE update. This took a considerable effort, requiring the mastering of many of the game's other profession, and William spent quite a lot of time pursuing the endeavor.
