Marvel Studios has released a brand-new teaser on X confirming a team-up between Black Panther and the Fantastic Four in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Ever since the announcement of Robert Downey Jr. As Doctor Doom, Marvel has been building the hype for Avengers: Doomsday as a film that will change everything in the MCU. While the studio and the MCU battle superhero fatigue – most recently directly referenced in the Wonder Man trailers – Avengers: Doomsday is meant to take the franchise back to its glory days around the release of Avengers: Endgame.

So far, these teasers have been more contemplative in tone. By focusing on individual characters, they show the effects of the MCU's story arc thus far on the characters, adding depth to their individual journeys as Doctor Doom looms as a threat. The latest MCU teaser instills that same gravitas into Shuri's story, but it also begins to show the new alliances and connections that will build in Avengers: Doomsday.

The MCU has kept much of Avengers: Doomsday and Phase 6 a secret, but here's what's been confirmed, and what's rumored to be coming soon.

The teaser trailers for Avengers: Doomsday have been more serious and contemplative. The first teaser trailer, confirming Chris Evans' return as Steve Rogers, focuses on Steve putting away his Captain America costume and smiling as he holds a baby, presumably his own child. The second teaser trailer confirms Chris Hemsworth's return as Thor, shows Thor settling in to life as Love's father while praying to his own father, Odin, with tears in his eyes, asking for guidance in the upcoming battle so that he can return to Love once more.

The third teaser, starring Patrick Stewart, shows Professor Xavier amidst a destroyed version of Xavier's School for Gifted Children alongside Ian McKellan's Magneto, and it ends with James Marsden's Cyclops firing an optic blast while crying out in anguish. These teaser together provide gravitas as they focus in on the heroes' current emotional state as Doomsday looms in the distance.

The latest teaser starts similarly, focusing on Shuri's emotional turmoil. In the beginning, Shuri walks through a barren desert landscape, seemingly alone, as her voice over reflects on what she has lost. Adding to the somber tone, Shuri mentions that the King's duties are to "prepare our people for the afterlife," revealing that the possibility of doom already weighs heavy on the characters' minds.

However, as alone as Shuri feels, the camera reveals that she does not truly stand alone. She walks with King M'Baku and the Dora Milaje, showing that Shuri still has strong ties with Wakanda and her people. She also states that she has her own duties, implying that her work will take her away from her people toward new allies.

While the latest Avengers: Doomsday trailer starts with gravitas, the tone shifts once Ben Grimm enters the scene. First, King M'Baku formerly introduces himself to Ben Grimm as "King M'Baku of Wakanda." The camera then pans to Ben Grimm, in his Fantastic Four uniform as he introduces himself as "Ben, uh Yancy Street, between Broome and Grande." Ben's more casual introduction highlights his blue collar roots while also showing how he feels out of place. Since Fantastic Four: First Steps takes place in another universe, his alliance with the main MCU's Shuri shows that he is further from home than just the distance from Wakanda to New York City.

Ben's introduction is a tonal shift, showing that Avengers: Doomsday will not actually be all doom and gloom, even as it embraces the depth of the heroes' journeys. This moment also shows that while Shuri feels alone, she will build new alliances against the threat of Doctor Doom, forging new connections and friendships in the process. The alliance of Black Panther with the Fantastic Four shifts the teasers away from individual stories to the community that will grow as the heroes work together to defeat the multiverse-spanning threat when Avengers: Doomsday finally hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
