Avowed is a vast game, filled with new locations to uncover, activities to complete, and items to collect. Even the most veteran RPG players can have a bit of trouble seeing everything the game has to offer in a single playthrough. This is because Avowed has certain points of no return placed within the main missions which block players from accessing certain side quests and getting specific items. It's best that you know about these, so you're fully prepared when the time comes.

All Points of No Return in Avowed

Avowed Point of No Return

There are a total of three points of no return in Avowed. While some only lock certain activities within a particular region, others will outright prevent you from exploring the Living Lands completely, prompting you to start a new game. Here are the complete details for all of them.

  1. Naku Tedek Grounds: The first point of no return, specifically for the Emerald Stair and Dawnshore regions, happens during the Ancient Soil quest. After players complete the quest and exit Naku Tedek Grounds, a certain settlement will be in peril. This will cause some quests to be unavailable, even if they were logged into your journal.
  2. The Garden: This is a true point of no return for Avowed, as advancing the "Our Dreams Still Divide Us" to the point where you'll need to enter the Garden will display a "point of no return" notification. If you press yes, you won't be able to explore the Living Lands and will be locked until the game's epilogue.
  3. The Siege of Paradis: The Siege of Paradis quest features the final boss of Avowed. After you defeat the boss, players will need to start a new game to play the game again. Avowed also doesn't have a new game+ mode, so you'll have to gather your loot all over again.

To avoid losing any crucial quests or items by unintentionally crossing a point of no return, it's best that you create a manual save before progressing further. This can ensure that you experience the climax of Avowed, while also being able to return to the Living Lands to do other activities.

The good thing is that Avowed has a ton of replayable content that lets players experience a different outcome based on choices. So, grinding through the game again won't get boring, at least.
