Upon arriving at Fior mes Iverno in Emerald Stair, players will get to meet Animancers in Avowed. One of them is Giatta, who ends up joining your team as a companion and helps you find the path to The Garden.

Should You Choose Thirdborn Or Paradis In Avowed?
Fior mes Iverno is in flames, many lost their lives because of the Steel Garrote, while players and their companions were exploring a secret ruin in Avowed. Upon seeing her beloved home on fire, Giatta runs to the nearby farms to try and locate survivors.
As you are nearing the end of the Ancient Soil quest in Avowed, the governor and Quilicci are discussing where the survivors must go, as their home is not safe anymore, whether from the Dreamscourge or Steel Garrote.
Should You Choose Thirdborn In Avowed?
Thirdborn is a city in Shatterscarp, which is the third region players will visit on their journey to cure the Dreamscourge. If you choose Thirdborn, the governor, Quilicci, as well as the survivors will head there to try and find a new life. All will seem well and peaceful for the Fior mes Iverno people until you have to make another choice during the Shadows of the Past main quest.
If players have chosen to allow Ryngrim to sever the adra and drain random people of their essence, then the Fior mes Iverno survivors will suffer again as some of them will die randomly. You can figure this out by speaking with Quilicci in the Residential District as he will talk about how misfortune seems to follow his people.
Should You Choose Paradis In Avowed?
Paradis is in Dawnshore, the first region you explored in Avowed. Sending the survivors there might seem wrong as they will be close to the Aedyran, the home of the Steel Garrote that destroyed their home, and where it’s also forbidden to practice Animancy.
However, sending them to Paradis might seem like the best option, as they will be far away from the random death that will take place in Thirdborn if players decide to sever the adra. You can go back to Paradis and check on them yourself by meeting with the governor near the city’s gates. He will reward you with 500 Currency in Avowed, and thank players for protecting his people.
However, keep in mind that there will be consequences at the end of the game. If the Fior mes Iverno people are in Paradis and players choose to make the Living Lands independent, then during the final quest, The Siege of Paradis, the governor will confess that his people went into hiding and some of them are gone. Additionally, you will discover that once the war is over, Paradisians don't 100% approve of living with animancers, so the citizens of Fior mes Iverno can't practice animancy like before. On the bright side, they were praised for their agricultural knowledge, which helps improve the relationship eventually.
