Like most RPGs, Avowed features a robust leveling system that ties into its skill tree and character attribute mechanics. As you make your way through the Living Lands, almost everything the Envoy does will earn you experience points towards leveling up. As you may expect, this system does not keep going indefinitely. At a certain point, you will hit the level cap, which means you'll no longer gain any XP, ability points, or attribute points. In this guide, we'll reveal what the Envoy's maximum level is, and how many attribute points you can earn in Avowed.

Find out why the Fighter in Avowed is the go-to class for tanking, damage, and easy gameplay.
Avowed's Leveling System Explained
Avowed's leveling system features three main components:
- Experience Points
- Ability/Skill Tree & Points
- Attribute Points
Ability Points:
Every time you level up in Avowed, you will earn one Ability Point, which can be spent in the game's skill tree. The tree is divided into three sections: Fighter, Ranger, and Wizard. There is a fourth section for Godlike Abilities, but these cannot be purchased with Ability Points. Instead, you unlock them through main story missions and Avowed's Ancient Memories.
Each skill tree features abilities that focus on specific builds. Fighter focuses on melee combat and brute force, Ranger focuses on ranged combat, stealth, and exploration, and Wizard focuses on magic. You are free to mix and match abilities from every skill tree.
Attribute Points:
Attribute Points are also earned through leveling up, but are earned at every other level after you reach level 10. These points can be applied to the Character Attribute table, which includes the following:
- Might: Increase Damage & Max Carry Weight)
- Constitution: Increase Max Health & Poison/Bleed Resistance
- Dexterity: Increase Attack & Action Speed
- Perception: Increase Critical Hit Chance & Max Range
- Intellect: Increase Max Essence & Elemental Resistance
- Resolve: Increase Max Stamina & Second Wind Efficiency
After you set your initial attribute levels by picking one of Avowed's five background options, you'll increase each level through Attribute Points, Companion Training, and certain gear.
What is Avowed's Maximum Character Level?
Currently, players can reach a maximum level of 30 in Avowed. This may seem low, but leveling up does not occur quickly. In fact, our first character only reached level 27 after completing every available quest – both main and side – and completing 100% of the listed tasks in each region. However, this does not mean the character feels underleveled. With the design of Avowed's skill tree, 30 levels are perfectly adequate.
Max Attribute Points?
If you include the points you started the game with, you will have a total of 27 Attribute Points to spend over the course of the game. You can respec your character as many times as you'd like by spending currency directly in the Character menu. There is no limit to the number of times you can respec in Avowed.
