It's been a long, but incredibly rewarding journey for Baldur's Gate 3. Hitting early access in October 2020, Baldur's Gate 3 earned a fairly loyal fan-base right from the get-go, but it wouldn't be until its full release in August 2023 that the whole world would cast its eye over to the sprawling fantasy RPG. Widely considered to be the most faithful Dungeons and Dragons video game adaptation of all time, Baldur's Gate 3 earned immense critical praise across the board upon its 2023 launch, earning 9s and 10s across the board, putting it at a current Metacritic score of 96 on both PC and PS5, and an eye-watering 99 on Xbox Series X.

But those initial critical scores were just the start of Baldur's Gate 3's success. As of February 2024, Baldur's Gate 3 has sold an impressive total of over 10 million copies across all platforms, which is around 7 million more than its predecessor, and apparently over double the number of units that Larian's last game, Divinity: Original Sin 2 sold. And on top of those impressive sales numbers, Baldur's Gate 3 has also received a mountain of accolades.
