Some may argue that Humans are the most boring race in Baldur's Gate 3. There is some truth to that, since there are so many exotic races, gamers might be reluctant to pick the one with no unique racial traits that they can already be in real life.

But with a +1 across the board to all attributes in Baldur's Gate 3, Humans are uniquely positioned to make a character that can do a bit of everything. During the game, players will have to fight, speak, search, climb, and learn. In the right class, the Human is the one race that can accomplish the most varied tasks.

Wizard

The Human is one of the best races to choose for a Wizard since the Wizard's strength is entirely in versatility. Of all the classes, this is the one that fantasy gamers have noted can do anything with magic, whether it's combat or smooth talking.

Intelligence governs most of the Wizard spells but a healthy number of them involve talking to people, climbing steep slopes, or gliding over water. Each of these involves checks with different attributes so the Human is ready for all facets of the game when using the Wizard.

Barbarian

The Barbarian, because it's incentivized to be unarmored, tends to get knocked around quite a bit. Needing Strength and Constitution are a given for ideal races to use with the Barbarian but the player will still need something for all the various spells and arrows that get tossed against frontliners.

Humans don't have any single attribute that is bad so they're prepared to at least compete when it comes to Dexterity, Wisdom, Intelligence, and Charisma checks. Being prepared for any spell in Baldur's Gate 3 is a solid move because there are lots of them and enemies aren't shy about using them against classes they think can't handle them.

Paladin

Paladins are yet another class that gets a great deal of use out of most attributes. Unable to completely ignore Strength, Charisma, Constitution, or Wisdom, gamers will need to split their points between at least a few of these and that's where the Human shines.

Paladins aren't really getting the most out of their character if they don't engage in both melee combat and spellcasting. A Human in this situation is ready for anything. Gain some inspiration and decide how to use it with a complete selection of abilities to choose from.

Druid

Keeping up with the theme of Humans being able to do anything, the Druid is a spellcaster that can transform into a melee combatant. Needing Strength and Constitution while transformed and Wisdom for casting, Humans are a natural selection for any role.

Playing with friends can help cover some of these bases but a player who wants to be the main character will love the Human Druid. The race and class combination can converse outside of combat, cast spells, tank, and deliver punishing physical hits.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available in Early Access on PC and will be available on August 3rd, 2023. The PlayStation 5 version will be available on September 6th, 2023. A version for Xbox Series X/S is still in development.
