Baldur's Gate 3 is based on Dungeons & Dragons, which means there are many systems to keep track of. The game rewards patience and learning from past mistakes. It can be difficult to brute force certain battles, especially those involving undead mummy enemies.
You may only stumble onto these enemies a few times throughout the game, mostly through Mystic Carrion's quests. This particular undead mummy has taken residence in the Lower City section of Baldur's Gate and is a powerful enemy. While fighting him and his allies, your party members may be stricken with Mummy Rot. Here is how to rid yourself of this ailment.
Baldur's Gate 3: How to Get Amulet of Misty Step
Misty Step is one of the best Bonus Actions in Baldur's Gate 3, and this Amulet can add it to any Class build.
What Is Mummy Rot In Baldur's Gate 3?
Mummy Rot will reduce your party's HP by eight points if they receive the affliction. The effect is similar to Bone Chill. Any character that has received Mummy Rot cannot be healed for a set number of turns. This ailment unfortunately stacks as enemies can inflict Mummy Rot over and over again. This can leave a character unable to heal for a ridiculously long time. The turn counter will not stop even when your characters are downed, which means that you won't be able to revive them.
The enemy attack that will inflict this status ailment is called Rotting Fist. Every time it hits a party member, they will receive necrotic damage. It's best to avoid close-range melee combat with mummies because of this status effect. Bring spellcasters and bows to avoid getting too close and receiving too many Rotting Fist attacks.
How To Cure Mummy Rot In Baldur's Gate 3
If you view the description of Mummy Rot, you can see that it is designated as a curse, not a disease. This means it can be cured by using the
Remove Curse spell. This is a spell that spellcasters, such as clerics, warlocks, and wizards, can learn very early on in Baldur's Gate 3. Any of these classes can learn it at Class Level 5. It costs one level 3 spell slot to cast.
Chances are that Shadowheart has already learned it in the earlier acts. She can be very useful as a combat medic in many situations, which can be helpful here. You can also find Scrolls of Remove Curse, but they are rare.
The other spell you can use to remove Mummy Rot is Greater Restoration. This spell can be learned by most spellcasters and druids at Class Level 9. It removes other ailments along with curses.
Greater Restoration costs one level 5 spell slot to cast. If you somehow survive a fight with Mummy Rot and have no way to cure it, you can always take a long rest at camp to remove curses.
