The world of Baldur's Gate 3 is based on the lore and legend of the Sword Coast, a vast realm that's part of the Dungeons & Dragons universe. The powerful beings that the protagonist meets on their adventures include a dark god by the name of Shar, and The Nightsinger is one of her titles.
There's a location in Shar's Gauntlet that's not exactly hard to find, but most players will walk right past this small room and never notice it. It doesn't have a special label or marking on the map, but this obscure location is where to get a temporary buff called The Nightsinger's Favour. It's an optional and temporary but handy extra ability in BG3 that helps the character fight against the undead and Necromancers.
The Gauntlet of Shar
The Nightsinger's Favour room isn't locked and doesn't even have a door, so entry isn't an issue. Finding it is the more difficult part, and detailed directions are helpful. No matter what route players take, they should look for the rats, who tend to congregate in certain important spaces.
Remember that Shar loves Stealth and trickery, so it helps to have a character with a high Perception with good Sleight of Hand ability that can pick locks and disarm traps to get through this section of the Gauntlet.
Via The Waypoint
- The Waypoint. The small room is located on the same floor as the Waypoint, so head west or east but not down. West goes to Balthazar's Quarters, east goes back to the initial room with the shadow puzzle, the Verge of the Shadows.
- Salazar's Quarters. On the far western side of the Gauntlet on this level. It's not necessary to ineract with Balthazar before getting the buff, but his minions are waiting along this route, so be prepared for a fight. Head south from here, and the Nightsinger's Favour room is the first on the left.
Via The Entrance
- The Verge of the Shadows. Go west and exit out the door. This leads to the broken wall and the mushroom stairs and is the easiest route to the Nightsinger's Favour room.
- The Mushroom Passage. Use the Jump action to traverse the giant mushrooms to reach the southwestern corner of the dungeon. Look out for the Cloaker monster guarding an ornate chest near the door heading north.
- The Kitchen. The countertops and giant funghi make this look like some kind of food prep room. Stop and grab some provisions and alchemy ingredients here before exiting the door to the north. The Nightsinger's Favour room is on the right.
The Nightsinger's Favour
This ornate room is filled with broken ceramics and crumbling statues but is still richly adorned, despite its decripid state. A marble crypt is nestled in a chaotic heap of candles and offerings. There are several rats in this room, and if Shadowheart is in the party, she'll comment on how even rats "have the good sense to worship Lady Shar."
The player can interact with the crypt and trigger a short cinematic that ends with the option to either Leave or Pray. If they choose to Pray, they'll be rewarded with the The Nightsinger's Favour, a buff that gives the character Resistance to Necrotic damage and lasts until the character's next Long Rest.
Baldur's Gate 3 is available now on PC and PS5.
