Baldur's Gate 3 offers a bounty of splendid magic items to obtain, and some are much harder to get than others. Among these are rings that can grant significant magical powers, or provide a nice stat bonus for players. While players may find luck looting corpses and bartering with vendors, some rings are only obtainable through strenuous means. However, they're not to be missed.
The paths to obtain these rings are not for the faint of heart, and they can be gathered with varying degrees of difficulty. For players looking for a challenge on their next playthrough, here are some of the most difficult rings to obtain in Baldur's Gate 3.
Baldur's Gate 3: 15 Best Rings You Can Get In Act 1, Ranked
Enchanted rings in Baldur's Gate 3 can provide players with handy perks, and there are plenty to pick up, even in Act 1.
Updated July 13, 2024, by Kristy Ambrose: It's been almost a year since the official launch of Baldur's Gate 3, and although the initial excitment has died down, the game retains a solid fanbase and continues to reach new players. The pile of awards included Best Game of the Year from the BAFTAs, the Golden Joysticks, the Game Awards, and many more. And of course, nobody will forget the iconic images of Sven Vicke in his shining armor with an armful of golden statues. Although Larian won't be making a sequel or DLC, updates and patches will continue, so there may be new rings or other accessories added to BG3 in the future.

Eversight Ring is a useful ring found in Act Two of Baldur's Gate 3. It grants the user immunity to being blinded. While it is not the hardest ring to obtain in the game, it's certainly tough to fight into this dark and obscure location.
The ring is found in the Morgue of The House of Healing, which will generally be encountered towards the end of Act Two. The Eversight Ring can be found in an Opulent Chest after an encounter with an undead and is secured behind a DC 14 Lockpicking check.

Baldur's Gate 3: 10 Most Beginner Friendly Classes
Some of the easiest classes in Baldur's Gate 3 will help players new to the series and genre have a leg up in the world.
Players must locate the zombie Thrumbo and return it to Mystic Carrion, who is located in a Wardrobe in the Smuggler's Beach House in the Lower City. An encounter will ensue after being led to the secret basement of Mystic Carrion, which is locked behind a DC 20 Lockpicking check.
To obtain this ring players will need to battle through hordes of undead and defeat Mystic Carrion, ultimately freeing Thrumbo from the twelfth-level mummy lord. He's not easy to beat and packs quite a punch, or at least, his Ancient Servants do.
8 Ring of Shadows
Earned After Winning Oliver's Game
- Location: House in Deep Shadows
- Quest: Lift the Shadow Curse
The
Ring of Shadows is a great ring to boost the stealth of the adventuring party. It allows the wearer to cast the
Pass Without Trace spell once per long rest, which grants a +10 bonus to stealth checks.
This ring can be obtained from the House in Deep Shadows during Act Two. A little boy named Oliver, who is found on his own in the Shadow-cursed Lands, will want to play hide and seek. Beware, this is no child's play, as the game will be filled with shadows, which players must defeat if they are spotted.
The shadows have a keen eye and make finding Oliver discreetly a tedious task. After beating the game and finding Oliver twice, players will be awarded the Ring of Shadows, which can be exceptionally useful when stealth is of the utmost importance.
7 Shadow Blade Ring
A Gift From Arabella After Her Parents Are Found
- Location: Arabella's Reward
- Related Quest: Find Arabella's parents
The Shadow Blade Ring allows players to cast Shadow Blade once per short rest, a spell that summons a weapon. It is given as a reward if players embark on the quest to find Arabella's parents. Her parents will be found, unfortunately deceased, in The House of Healing.
Baldur's Gate 3: 23 Best Spells
Baldur's Gate 3 has several different classes for players to choose from, with most being magic-based, meaning spells are very important.
The Shadow Blade Ring isn't immediately granted after Arabella is informed about her parents, as she'll need a few days to cool off before she hands over the ring. Most players will have had to endure Thorm's treachery by the time they're slipping this ring on their finger.
6 Band of the Mystic Scoundrel
Deep Within The Jungle, Guarded By Dinosaurs
- Location: The Jungle of Chult
- Related Quest: Find Dribbles The Clown
This ring is obtained through a lengthy process that involves a tricky Djinn, who will attempt to dupe the players. At the Circus of The Last Days in Rivington, which players will encounter in Act Three, the Djinn Akabi will have a rigged game where players must spin a wheel. This ring will allow anyone who wields it to cast an illusion or enchantment spell as a bonus action after hitting a creature with a weapon attack.
If players win the game, either by distracting him or by stealing his ring and exposing his scam, he will teleport the character who beats him to the Jungle of Chult. This is a particularly difficult encounter, as it pits just one party member against a band of hostile Alioramus dinosaurs.
5 Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands
An Easily Missed Location In Grymforge
- Location: Looted from a gnome body at the Grymforge docks
- Related Quest: Save The Grymforge Gnomes
Acquiring this handy ring, which gives the wearer the ability to cast Invisibility once per Long Rest, doesn't require solving a complex puzzle or defeating a tough boss. It's difficult to find because it's in a hidden location that most players walk right past it on the way to find Philomeen, the gnome that's escaped with the explosive runepoweder.
The Grymforge docks have a few NPCs keeping an eye on the ships and disposing of bodies. On the opposite side of the location where the party's boat first docked, two Duergar are tossing dead Gnomes into the water. Speak to them, pass both a Perception and Deception check, and they'll stop what they're doing. This will allow the player to loot the bodies before they go into the deep.
4 Orphic Ring
Obtained If Players Opt To Kill Prince Orpheus
- Location: The Astral Prism
- Quest: Free Orpheus
Unlike some other powerful rings that can be obtained in Baldur's Gate 3, The Orphic Ring is not locked behind a battle, but it can still be difficult to obtain nonetheless. This ring grants the wearer the ability to cast Confusion at level 5, which is an Enchantment spell that can seriously hinder enemies.
The difficulty obtaining this ring comes from the weight of the decision that must be made to wield it. It can only be retrieved from the body of Prince Orpheus, who is the savior of the Gith and is their best bet at freeing the race from the shackles of the Lich Queen Vlaakith.
Baldur's Gate 3: Should You Free Orpheus?
Orpheus' fate can have a major impact on the conclusion of Baldur's Gate 3. Here's what happens if players decide to free him or keep him locked up.
Towards the end of the game, players are presented with a few options. One option is to slay the prince to become a mind flayer to destroy the Elder Brain. This decision will condemn the Gith to many more years under the tyrannical rule of Vlaakith, and as such, is an incredibly difficult decision for most players to make.
3 Killer's Sweetheart
Defeat Your Worst Enemy
- Location: Gauntlet of Shar
- Quest: The Self-Same Trial
The
Killer's Sweetheart ring is a very rare ring that guarantees the wearer a critical hit on an enemy after killing a creature once every long rest. It's a great candidate to equip on martial characters like Astarion, Lae'zel, or Karlach. It can be obtained during
The Gauntlet of Shar, which is a series of trails that players must pass before the party can progress to Baldur's Gate.
One of the trials involves players facing off against mirror versions of themselves in the Self-Same trial, which is a tough fight that utilizes the player's own most powerful abilities against them. It's no easy feat to beat the Gauntlet of Shar, and it can be one of the tougher encounters in Baldur's Gate 3.
2 Ring of Feywild Sparks
Found After Killing Auntie Ethel
- Location: Baldur's Gate Lower City
- Related Quest: Save Vanra or Avenge The Hag Survivors
The
Ring of Feywild Sparks is an exceptionally powerful ring that can be obtained by defeating Auntie Ethel. It guarantees a wild magic surge from Wild Magic Sorcerers after they cast a spell if the Tides of Chaos feature is active. This can turn the tides of battle in an instant, and grant powerful boons to the party.
Baldur's Gate 3: Each Companion And Their D&D Moral Alignments
Baldur's Gate 3 holds some exciting companions, each with their own unique desires and sense of morality for Dungeons & Dragons.
Be warned though, this could come with some unintended side effects. This ring is difficult to obtain, as Auntie Ethel is far more powerful than she looks. Initially disguised as a sweet old lady, Auntie Ethel is a powerful hag that employs illusion and trickery to best the party in battle.
Auntie Ethel is encountered in Act One and Act Three, but when she drops the ring in Act Three, she's got a bit of an upgrade with higher level attacks, and some magical mushrooms that give her a defense boost. This makes snatching this Ring from Ethel difficult.
1 Burnished Ring
Kill The Devil Himself
- Location: House of Hope
- Related Quest: Free Hope
The Burnished Ring is an excellent accessory that grants the user the powers of a lesser Beholder, Paralyzing Ray, once per long rest. This ring is perhaps one of the most difficult rings to obtain and keep.
It is found in The House of Hope, during Act Three of the game, and is found when players attempt to free Hope, the Dwarven Cleric, from the grasp of Raphael. She is guarded by two spectators and a huddle of imps. Slay the monsters to free her and one of the Spectators will drop this ring.
While the Spectators themselves are not a particularly tough battle, to keep this ring for future encounters, players will have to defeat Raphael before leaving the House of Hope. This is no easy task, as Raphael is one of the most powerful characters players may find themselves facing off against in Baldur's Gate 3.
