Baldur's Gate 3 has revealed that barely 10% of players have completed the game in Honour Mode since the difficulty was released. The game mode dares players to finish Baldur's Gate 3 without dying, but apparently, few can succeed.
Some months after the game's launch, Baldur's Gate 3 released Honour Mode, a game mode that not only maximizes opponents' toughness but also adds permadeath and restricts players to just one save slot. Considering Baldur's Gate 3 is already a challenging game, completing it in Honour Mode turns into an incredible feat. Days after it was released, Larian Studios confirmed that while 34,000 players tried Honour Mode, only 464 parties made it to the end. Now, eight months later, Larian once again revealed how many fans have attempted Honour Mode and lived to tell the tale.
Larian Discusses How Baldur’s Gate 3's Size Influences Future Projects
Larian Studios discusses how the extensive content of Baldur’s Gate 3 is influencing their development process for new projects.
To celebrate the game's first anniversary, Baldur's Gate 3 has shared an infographic revealing that 141,660 players have finished Honour Mode with zero party deaths. Meanwhile, 1.2 million fans failed. This results in 10.38% of players successfully completing Honour Mode out of over 1.3 million. The game mode makes some of Baldur's Gate 3's hardest fights feel impossible to beat, so this small percentage of players proves to be very skilled.
Only 10% of Baldur's Gate 3 Players Have Completed Honour Mode
When players die in Honour Mode, they have the option to either delete their save game or continue their run in Custom Mode. According to Larian, out of the 1.2 million gamers who failed Honour Mode, 76% decided to delete their run, while 24% continued in Custom. Switching to Baldur's Gate 3's Custom Mode allows players to save their characters' progress and carry on enjoying the campaign, but they won't be able to say they beat Honour Mode.
While ten percent may seem low, it still means that over 140,000 Baldur's Gate 3 players have conquered Honour Mode. Fans have to be excellent strategists to achieve this, while others may be blessed with luck. In an unbelievable feat, one Baldur's Gate 3 player beat Honour Mode's final boss by throwing a helmet at it. Another player was not as fortunate, having been killed by Shadowheart during their run.
Baldur's Gate 3 continues to draw in thousands of players, which is expected for a Game of the Year title. Larian Studios has already announced all the new features coming in Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7, including Evil Endings, a Mod Manager, and split-screen gameplay optimizations.
