Summary
- Larian Studios released Hotfix 11 for Baldur's Gate 3, addressing over a dozen bugs in the game.
- This patch largely focuses on fixing bugs caused by Update 4 in early November, including crashes and scripting issues.
- The patch also improves some NPC animations and fixes select cutscene triggers, but it does not address a known bug affecting Astarion's kissing animations. However, Larian confirmed that this particular issue is now on its radar.
Larian Studios rolled out the Hotfix 11 update for Baldur's Gate 3, addressing more than a dozen issues in its hit role-playing game. This release arrives just eight days after Baldur's Gate 3 received its tenth Hotfix.
Like their name suggests, Larian treats Hotfix patches as smaller revisions intended to address bugs it deems critical. And while most such issues from the day-one version of Baldur's Gate 3 have already been ironed out, the RPG's large-scale updates that Larian introduced since early August habitually produced new bugs in need of fixing, as is customary for software development. The latest such release happened in early November, when Baldur's Gate 3 received its massive Update 4 packing over 1,000 changes.
Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 4 Removes One Of The Game's Best Memes
The Patch 4 update to Baldur's Gate 3 removed an unconventional method of defeating one late-game boss that had become a popular meme.
Baldur's Gate 3 Hotfix 11 Addresses 14 Bugs
The second Hotfix release since that ambitious update and the game's 11th overall just rolled out on Friday, November 17, and is now available to download on both PC and the PS5. The patch contains fixes for 14 Baldur's Gate 3 bugs, including a peculiar interaction that could have crashed the game whenever a character used a reaction to attack a dead enemy. An unspecified issue that occasionally caused the game to get stuck in select dialogues has also been eliminated as part of this update, as was a game-breaking blocker that sometimes resulted from an attempt to initiate a Long Rest.
Hotfix 11 also adjusts the Cursed Skulls that can be found in the first act of Baldur's Gate 3, making them vulnerable to both Radiant and Force damage, like the developers originally intended them to be. Some minor NPC animation improvements are also part of the package, as are fixes for select cutscene triggers.
Astarion's Kissing Animations in Baldur's Gate 3 Are Still Broken
As for the things missing from Hotfix 11, the patch doesn't do anything to address the strange bug that broke Astarion's kissing animations in Baldur's Gate 3. However, the changelog attached to the new update confirms that Larian is aware of that issue and is currently working on a fix. The developer hasn't shared a specific time frame for when the problem is likely to be resolved. In the meantime, Larian has once again thanked its fans for their continued feedback and bug reports, labeling them as a crucial component of its ongoing efforts to keep refining Baldur's Gate 3.
Behind the scenes, the studio has also been hard at work optimizing the game for Microsoft's current-generation consoles, particularly the Xbox Series S. In a recent social media update, Larian CEO Swen Vincke suggested that the company's Xbox Series S optimization efforts will benefit Baldur's Gate 3 players on all platforms. The porting process itself is now also nearing completion, as Larian just revealed that the Xbox version of the game will be given an official release date on December 7.
Warning! The final item in the following changelog contains a spoiler about one minor character in the Dark Urge playthrough.
