How to Get Witchbreaker in Baldur's Gate 3

Luckily for those looking to pick up the Witchbreaker as soon as possible, you will be able to obtain this weapon within the first section of the game, before you enter Act 2. To acquire the Witchbreaker, you will need to complete Act 1 of the game and progress to the Mountain Pass, locating the Githyanki's Creche Y'llek.

The Githyanki Creche can be reached by heading to Rosymorn Monastery, which is located at the approximate coordinates of X: 18 and Y: 23 on the Mountain Pass. The easiest way to reach this location is by finding the wooden elevator and completing a strength check to operate it. Once you reach Rosymorn Monastery, you will need to find a way into the Githyanki Creche, which can be most easily done by using a Spell such as Feather Fall to jump from one of the upper floors or rooftops to the lower floor of the building safely. From here, enter the basement of Rosymorn Monastery, which is where the Creche is held.

Once you reach the Creche, you will need to locate a Githyanki trader by the name of A'jak'nir Jeera. Luckily, she can be found right beside the Githyanki Creche's fast travel point, at the approximate coordinates of X: 1383 Y:-814.

After locating her, simply initiate conversation, and then ask to see her wares. You will now be able to purchase the Witchbreaker from her and add it to your inventory, or equip it to a character of your choice.

Witchbreaker: You gain Advantage on Attack Rolls against concentrating creatures.

Essentially, the Witchbreaker enables its user to automatically gain Advantage on Attack Rolls against enemies that are concentrating. As many multiple-turn buff or attack spells require concentration, it's fairly common to come across an enemy who will be concentrating every other round of combat.

Many of these spells are fairly powerful, making such enemies a threat, especially in longer, drawn-out battles. Thankfully, the Witchbreaker makes taking down these pesky opponents much more efficient, due to providing automatic Advantage against them whenever they are concentrating - enabling you with significantly improved chances to hit your attacks. As dealing damage to an enemy also provides a chance to disrupt them by forcing them to break concentration, the Witchbreaker can come in very handy not only for taking down strong spellcasters but also for disrupting their plays.

Picking The Best Character To Use The Witchbreaker

For this reason, you'll need to ensure you have a character who can make the most out of this item. As the Witchbreaker is a versatile 2-handed battleaxe, you'll need to make sure you have it equipped with a character who can utilize such weapons. The best choice here is a Baldur's Gate 3 character who operates efficiently at melee range, as you'll need to be able to approach these enemy casters to get your attacks off, thus triggering the Witchbreaker perk.

Solid choices to consider here are a Fighter, Paladin, or Barbarian, depending on the Subclass and build that you are running. If you have a designated melee tank, then you can most likely find value from letting them wield the Witchbreaker. However, this weapon will only come in handy for combat scenarios involving multiple enemy casters, as this is the only time in which the perks will proceed. For this reason, it's important to keep a secondary weapon in this character's inventory for you to rotate in between combats, as needed.
