A new Baldur's Gate 3 mod has added a brand-new playable race to the popular RPG, allowing players to play as the reptilian Yuan-Ti race. While the beloved game from Larian Studios offers players a wide variety of things to do within its interpretation of Dungeons and Dragons' Sword Coast, the game features more traditional options for races and classes. Baldur's Gate 3 features the twelve classes offered in Dungeons and Dragons' base Fifth Edition, alongside eleven races to choose from. Now, a new mod is adding another popular race to the game.
Since the debut of Dungeons and Dragons' Fifth Edition in 2014, Wizards of the Coast has frequently added new races and classes for players to choose from. Dungeons and Dragons has introduced a plethora of races through its rulebooks, adding both beast-like races like the Tabaxi and Lizardfolk and former enemies like Goblins and Bugbears. Players have even been given more fantastical options to choose from, like Autognomes and Warforged. A recently released mod is looking to bring a popular Dungeons and Dragons race into Baldur's Gate 3.

Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Adds Playable Yuan-Ti
A new Baldur's Gate 3 mod titled "Secrets of the Serpent" adds a brand-new playable race to the popular Dungeons and Dragons-themed game. The mod, created by NexusMods users tepkunset and neonbutchery, adds the reptilian Yuan-Tis to Baldur's Gate 3, offering both "reptilian eyes" and "face scales." Yuan-Ti characters naturally gain the "Poison Spray" cantrip, alongside resistances to magical effects and poison and benefiting from Superior Darkvision. The mod also adds new armor sets for the Yuan-Ti, as well as compatibilities with other mods.
The mod adding Yuan-Tis to Baldur's Gate 3 comes as new player character options have been one of the biggest requests from fans for DLC. Fans have frequently asked for Larian Studios to add more playable races to Baldur's Gate 3, with Aasimar and Goblins as some of the most popular choices. Many have also theorized new classes for Baldur's Gate 3, including the Artificer class first introduced in D&D's "Tasha's Cauldron of Everything" sourcebook. Baldur's Gate 3's frequent updates have not added any new classes or races to the game.
While fans have shared plenty of requests for Baldur's Gate 3 DLC, Larian Studios had some disappointing news for waiting fans earlier this week. The developer confirmed it will not be creating any DLC for Baldur's Gate 3, fully intending to move on from the franchise after finishing its post-launch updates to the game. CEO Swen Vicke also confirmed that Larian Studios will not be developing a sequel to Baldur's Gate 3, with fans speculating Larian may return to Divinity: Original Sin. Baldur's Gate 3's wide array of mods give fans even more ways to enjoy the beloved RPG.
