At a PAX West panel on August 30, Larian's Swen Vincke confirmed that Baldur's Gate 3's Patch 7 is set to release on PC "next week," meaning it should be set to arrive at some point over the next few days. It has been months of anticipation waiting for Patch 7, and it seems it will be the most significant update to the game to date. At the moment, only the vague "next week" window is confirmed, so it isn't quite clear exactly what day it will release on. Still, it's good to know it's just around the corner.
Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 is Almost Here
There is a catch. Baldur's Gate 3's Patch 7 will only be coming to PC initially, with Larian confirming that "it'll take a little longer to get these to you on console and Mac." While no date or window has been given for Patch 7 on these platforms, it should be worth the wait. Baldur's Gate 3's console mod support should be a game-changer, especially considering the fact the game will not be getting any DLC from Larian.
As Larian moves on to two new RPGs, Wizards of the Coast is left with the unenviable job of replacing the studio for future Baldur's Gate projects. Considering how beloved Baldur's Gate 3 is by the gaming community, it will be an enormous task. Replacing BioWare after the first two titles was also a tall order, so it doesn't necessarily spell doom and gloom for the future of Baldur's Gate.
