A Baldur's Gate 3 fan has made a list of all the things they're glad Larian Studios left out of the massive fantasy RPG. Gamers usually hope for more game mechanics to be implemented in big titles, especially RPGs, but in the case of Baldur's Gate 3, some fans feel like less is more given the title's massive size.
Baldur's Gate 3 quickly became one of the most highly regarded RPGs of all time when it was first released in 2023 for PlayStation 5 and PC. The hit title finally made its way to Xbox on the very same night it took home Game of the Year at the 2023 Game Awards, along with winning five other categories. Despite its massive initial success, Larian Studios has continued to push out patches and updates for Baldur's Gate 3 throughout 2024, adding even more content to the game, such as new cutscenes, official mod support, and much more.
Baldur's Gate 3 Is Getting Official Dungeons and Dragons Miniature Figures
Baldur's Gate 3 introduces its official Dungeons and Dragons miniature figures, allowing players to add them to their tabletop campaigns.
Baldur's Gate 3 is filled to the brim with fun and satisfying RPG gameplay mechanics, but it seems many players are grateful that Larian omitted key gameplay elements that likely would've made the game tedious. On Reddit, user twitchy-y posted a list of everything they're glad Larian Studios didn't include in Baldur's Gate 3. The first two points in the list deal with weapons, specifically ranged weapons having infinite ammo during combat, and gear not breaking after use. Hunting for ammo between battles likely would have weighed the game down, and constantly repairing weapons and gear is something many gamers dislike in other titles.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Player Lists the Things They’re Glad Larian Left Out
The user also praised Larian for not including a crafting system in the RPG. There's already a ton for players to manage in Baldur's Gate 3 between all the game's companions, and adding a crafting system on top of it may have been a bit overwhelming for some players. Some of the other things twitchy-y praised Baldur's Gate 3 for excluding are an out-of-combat stamina system, fetch quests, and a limit to where and when players can save their game. Controversially, twitchy-y also applauded Larian for omitting fishing and cooking from the game, mechanics that many Baldur's Gate 3 players would've surely enjoyed as indicated by some of the comments under the post. One such commenter brought up Baldur's Gate 3' s lack of microtransactions, which many fans also applauded.
While Larian still regularly rolls out new updates for Baldur's Gate 3, it's unlikely that any of the features brought up by twitchy-y will be added to the game, so fans who agreed with their Reddit post won't have anything to worry about in the future. While Baldur's Gate 4 will be worked on by a different studio, Larian is already hard at work on its next game, which studio head Swen Vinke recently joked won't come out until 2029.
