Larian Studios has released a new hotfix for Baldur's Gate 3, addressing some frustrating bugs along with persistent gameplay issues reported by players. Although the developer has concluded major content updates for Baldur's Gate 3, fans can expect the occasional maintenance patch now and then as the RPG continues to boast massive player counts nearly two years post-launch.
Following the mammoth Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 release in April, Larian Studios moved on to new projects, with the developer currently hard at work on multiple games. Support for the 2023 RPG continues, however, with peak concurrent player counts on Steam surpassing 100,000 each month and sales surpassing 15 million copies to date. While Baldur's Gate 3's content is complete, new patches will continue to roll out in order to fix any issues or make any adjustments needed to keep the title going strong well into the future.
Baldur's Gate 3 Fans Are Getting Refunds for Ugly Figures
A new line of miniatures inspired by Baldur's Gate 3 is leaving customers unimpressed, with many immediately getting their money back.
A new Baldur's Gate 3 hotfix has been released across all platforms, with Larian Studios sharing the details on Steam. According to the patch notes, the update focuses exclusively on bug and crash fixes, along with adjustments to the game's modding toolkit. Crashes impacting players changing their input mode while launching a multiplayer game or when suspending the game while traveling between regions while using Xbox cross-play have been fixed, along with one affecting fans playing on split-screen with DLSS on Vulkan. A bug allowing players to enable cross-play while running a non-cross-play session has also been addressed, and the game's UI has also seen some tweaks, including the removal of developer text appearing on the Upcast Bonus tooltip when upcasting Shadow Blade. For players unsure how to enable cross-play, Larian also included a tutorial detailing the process along with the new patch notes.
As multiplayer titles continue to find huge popularity, Baldur's Gate 3 inspired many to return to solo titles, with the game's director Swen Vincke recently commenting on the notion that single-player titles are dead. According to Vincke, in order for single-player games to succeed, they must simply "be good," something seen prominently in 2025 with the wild success of titles like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Although many fans held out hope for a Baldur's Gate 3 DLC, Vincke recently confirmed that this would not come to pass. The future of the franchise remains in question, as Larian Studios won't be returning to develop Baldur's Gate 4. Despite this, Hasbro still has hopes for a follow-up to the 2023 mega-hit, with multiple sources reportedly interested in carrying the torch. The game may be many years away, but dedicated fans are curious to see if another lucky studio could potentially fill Larian's shoes.
