The ability to wield weapons is a dexterous feat, and RPGs usually dabble in such ways to improve proficiency with armaments. Baldur's Gate 3, owing to being an RPG, has dexterity as an ability score for players to invest.

Baldur's Gate 3: Best Items To Craft

Baldur's Gate 3 features an array of items that aid the players in combat. However, one should know which ones make a difference in the outcome.

Obviously, as is standard for RPGs, there is a ton of loot in Baldur's Gate 3. Many obtainable items relate to dexterity in some way, whether that be providing useful bonuses, or increasing the ability. Such items are incredibly valuable for those classes primarily scaling with dexterity, and should be hunted down, if not for the player, then for companions that would adequately utilize them.

Updated October 15, 2024, by Hamza Haq: Rogue and Ranger are the two main classes that rely on Dexterity as their main stat. Finding pieces of equipment to match these class' playstyle can be hard, especially when Baldur's Gate 3's best armor sets, weapons, and accessories are often missable and tucked away behind secrets. Knowing what items are the most useful for a DEX build is incredibly handy, especially in Tactician and Honor Mode, where every single advantage matters.

9 Yuan-Ti Scale Mail

Medium Armor That Allows Adding Dexterity Modifier to AC And Increased Initiative

The Yuan-Ti Scale Mail allows characters to add the total of their Dexterity modifier to their total AC on top of the armor's own respectable 15 AC, allowing classes like Rogue and Ranger to shine through. Additionally, since this armor set becomes available much earlier in the game during Act 2, its value is increased.

Additionally, the Ambusher passive gives the wearer a flat +1 bonus to initiative when it's their turn. For Rogues, this is incredibly useful as it tilts the initiative rolls in their favor, ensuring that they will take their action before anyone else gets a chance to take them out. This allows them to go into stealth and properly set up at the start of each turn, a much-needed boost to alleviate their glass-cannon nature.

8 Gloves Of The Balanced Hands

Adds The Ability Modifier To An Off-Hand's Weapon's Damage Dealt

BG3 Gloves of the Balanced Hands in-game item menu description
  • Can be purchased from Quartermaster Talli at Last Light Inn.

The Gloves of the Balanced Hands may not be as immediately noteworthy for dexterity as some other pieces of gear, but they can still prove useful. Given rogue classes utilize dexterity, and frequently dual-wield daggers, this item can find a place in the class.

The gloves add the ability modifier to the damage dealt via the off-hand weapon. With a high investment in dexterity due to their class, rogues can deal some sweet extra damage. In the late-game, it is a useful piece of gear, due to the powerful daggers available for collection, complimented by its perk.

7 Armor of Agility

Allows Wearer To Add Their Entire DEX Bonus To AC And Buff Sneaking

Baldur's Gate 3 Armor of Agility
  • Can be purchased from Gloomy Fentonson in the Lower City.

Medium armor sets typically have a higher base AC than light armor, which is counterbalanced by the fact that, when a character has a medium armor piece equipped, they can only receive a +2 AC bonus from their Dexterity. This is why light armors are what Dexterity-focused classes like Rogues go for, as their DEX modifier is so high that they actually get higher AC without medium armor.

The Armor of Agility is a medium armor piece that flips this formula on its head. Its special passive, Exotic Material, allows characters to add their full Dexterity modifier to their AC without any limitations on top of the armor's already incredible 17 AC. Additionally, it also removes the debuff to sneaking that all medium armor pieces have. Essentially, it's like having all the benefits of medium armor but none of the downsides.

6 Gloves Of Missile Snaring

Can Reduce Ranged Weapon Attacks Via The Wielder's Dexterity Modifier

  • Purchased from Arron in the Emerald Grove.

With a vast amount of combat encounters in Baldur's Gate 3, ranged weapon attacks are naturally going to become a nuisance to players. The Gloves of Missile Snaring gives some opportunities to reduce the damage of such attacks.

The Gloves of Missile Snaring reduces the damage of ranged weapon attacks via a reaction. Players will also receive a reduction of 1d10 damage in addition to their dexterity modifier, making a strong pair of gloves for any class, not just those with a high score in the stat.

5 Nimblefinger Gloves

Every playable race in Baldur's Gate 3 has unique attributes that can cement them as the best choice going forward.

Dexterity is increased by +2 for gnomes, but only by +1 for halflings and dwarves. However, these races are some of the most unpopular, with the item itself being borderline useless for any other race. Despite this, players who wield the gauntlets will receive a +1 for sleight of hand, allowing better thievery.

4 Gloves Of Dexterity

Sets Dexterity To 18

  • Purchased from A'jak'nir at Crèche Yllek.

Items that increase the dexterity score of a character are valuable items to obtain, but items that set a stat score to a specific level can also be a strong asset. It might not work as much for classes with a high dexterity score, but it can be useful for other builds that need a boost in the stat.

The Gloves of Dexterity set the dexterity score of the user to 18 but doesn't do anything if the stat is higher. As ranged attacks and finesse weapons scale with dexterity, these gloves can work well with other classes wanting to output more damage. The gloves also give a +1 to attack, an extremely welcome bonus for any build.

3 Mirror Of Loss

Increase Any Ability By +2

Baldur's Gate 3: How to Find and Use the Mirror Of Loss
  • Found in the House of Grief.

Any ability to permanently increase a stat by +2 is always a welcome boon for any build, not just dexterity. The Mirror of Loss is able to do just that, proving a powerful bonus to always achieve.

As players can stack stat score bonuses, the Mirror of Loss can be used in conjunction with other items to increase dexterity beyond normal amounts. While it might not be as straightforward as some other dexterity-increasing items to obtain the buff, it should nonetheless be pursued given the reward.

2 Auntie Ethel's Hair

Increases A Desired Ability By +1

Baldur's Gate 3 Auntie Ethel's Hair on the floor
  • Given by Auntie Ethel during her boss fight after reducing her health to 20% with non-lethal damage.

With multiple avenues of increasing ability scores, players can rack up a good amount of bonus dexterity. One such item to further increase it is Auntie Ethel's Hair, given by the eponymous character via her boss fight.

Baldur's Gate 3: Act 1 Bosses, Ranked

Despite being the beginning of the game, the first act of Baldur's Gate 3 throws some interesting and challenging bosses at players.

It has the property to increase any ability by +1, obviously including dexterity. It can be a little tricky to obtain, especially for a first-time player, as Ethel can be a difficult fight, but given that she only needs to be reduced to 20% health, it can bypass a portion of the battle. Acquiring this item is clearly powerful, and can last players until the end of the game.

1 The Graceful Cloth

Increases Dexterity By +2

BG3 The Graceful Cloth in-game item menu description
  • Purchased from Lady Esther at the Rosymorn Monastery Trail.

Any items that increase the dexterity score are immediately worthwhile acquisitions. The Graceful Cloth not only increases the dexterity score of a character, but also comes with additional bonuses.

Characters wearing The Graceful Cloth will receive a +1 bonus to dexterity saving throws, have their jump distance increased, and possess advantage of dexterity checks.

With all the bonuses, The Graceful Cloth makes for an incredibly strong piece of gear for dexterity builds absolutely worth obtaining, especially since it can be acquired very early into the game, still in the first act.
