Ball x Pit is one of those games that gets better the more you play it. With each subsequent run, you'll find yourself stumbling upon new synergies and strategies, with the game's upgrade system forcing players to experiment with new ball combos more often than not. After an ungodly amount of time down in the depths, I now feel confident enough to rank the best balls in Ball x Pit.

The best balls in Ball x Pit are able to deal decent damage without having to rely too much on other balls. Satan is the pick of the bunch here, although Virus isn't too far behind, with both able to deal excellent AOE damage in crowded areas. Frozen Flame and Nuclear Bomb offer slightly less upfront damage but increase the amount of damage enemies take from other balls, making them decent options for those looking to max out the damage they deal with some of the other S-Tier Ball x Pit balls.

ball-x-pit-balls-overgrowth

Radiation Beam is another fantastic choice when it comes to support balls, as too is Leech if you're planning to build around Bleed. Generally, balls that focus entirely on damage with no added effects are a waste of a slot, but Bomb manages to buck this trend with its exceptionally high AOE damage and reasonable cooldown time. Noxious and Mosquito Swarm are both very good options, but you're better off going for Virus and Mosquito King where possible.

Poison is probably the best basic ball in Ball x Pit when it comes to the strength of its evolutions, so you should definitely pick it up when you get a chance. Black Hole sounds very good on paper, but it's very situational and struggles to justify its long cooldown and complex evolution formula (it requires Sun, which is itself an evolution). Sacrifice and Hemorrhage are good shouts if you're open to a Bleed-focused build, although some may prefer to build around Burn instead.

ball-x-pit-balls-laser-horizontal

Laser (Horizontal)

Laser (Horizontal) is probably the best of the two lasers, but its upgrade path is fairly weak. The full-screen AOE damage provided by Flicker sounds good on paper, but it's a little too low to be viable, especially when Sun and Flash are a thing. Likewise, the healing potential of Lovestruck may seem appealing at a glance, but its damage output is nonexistent. If you really want to incorporate healing into your build, you'd be better off targeting one of the two Mosquito balls instead.

You're going to need Charm if you want to get Satan, which is probably the best ball in the game. However, the rest of its evolutions are pretty underwhelming, especially when you consider that this is the last of the basic balls to be unlocked (you get charm after your first clear of The Heavenly x Gates). Succubus and Wraith are probably the two worst evolutions in the game, with the latter offering next to nothing when playing as certain Ball x Pit characters and the former being completely overshadowed by Incubus.
