Summary
- The Switch port of Batman: Arkham Knight still experiences technical issues despite a recent update.
- Players have reported freezes, crashes, and unobtainable achievements in the handheld version.
- Developer Turn Me Up Games has not addressed complaints about the latest patch online.
A massive update for the Nintendo Switch port of Batman: Arkham Knight has just been dropped, but players have reported that the game still has many issues. Much like the original Windows release, the Switch port of Rocksteady Studios' beloved action-adventure experience suffers from numerous technical problems.
Part of the Batman: Arkham Trilog y bundle that came out last December, the Switch version of Batman: Arkham Knight has been labeled by the community as one of the worst ports ever released on the handheld due to a combination of poor performance and game-breaking bugs. Developer Turn Me Up Games, which worked on a number of decent and well received Switch ports in the past, has tried to address Batman: Arkham Knight's issues with updates, but even the latest patch has seemingly done nothing to fix some of the game's most severe problems.
The changelog for Batman: Arkham Knight's newest 1.0.3 update on the Switch has yet to be published, but many said on Reddit that the game still ran poorly and suffered from stutters, as well as frame drops, even after the 16 GB patch had been applied. Some players noted that the latest update to Batman: Arkham Knight's Switch version at least improved the game's graphics. The 2015 PC release of Batman: Arkham Knight faced similar problems as the handheld port, and the Switch-exclusive Batman: Arkham Trilogy was always expected to run into issues given the system's dated hardware.
Aside from exhibiting unstable performance, Batman: Arkham Knight's Switch version supposedly still encounters freezes and crashes during some parts of the game. As a result of these issues, a number of achievements, specifically those that are connected to major antagonist The Riddler, are impossible to obtain, some players pointed out online. Batman: Arkham Knight features a lot of hard-to-unlock achievements, among them being Riddle Me That, a Riddler-related achievement that only less than 9% of players on Steam have been able to obtain.
Batman: Arkham Knight Switch Port Latest Update
- Patch 1.0.3
Turn Me Up Games, which previously handled the well received Switch port of the critically acclaimed It Takes Two, has not responded to any of the tagged Twitter posts that reported issues with Batman: Arkham Knight's handheld version after the 1.0.3 update. Publisher Warner Bros. Games, for its part, has advised affected players to submit bug reports on its support page.
Like Batman: Arkham Knight, Mortal Kombat 1, another Warner Bros. Games-published title, also received a Switch version that shipped with a myriad of technical problems. Critics, however, were able to acknowledge that Mortal Kombat 1's Switch port was a great fighting game despite its issues. Meanwhile, many Batman: Arkham Knight players on the Switch have concluded that the port will never work properly due to its bugs.
