BattleBit Remastered just released a patch update that improves server filtering, matchmaking, and more quality-of-life changes. Along with this update, a few weapons in BattleBit Remastered such as the MK20 have been adjusted to make gameplay fair among players on the battleground.
Since BattleBit Remastered’s release back on June 15, 2023, the title has surged in popularity, especially when being compared to other first-person shooters such as Call of Duty and the Battlefield series. Despite its Roblox-like appearance, the title itself went viral on social media platforms such as TikTok and Twitter causing the game to see an initial concurrent player count of 90,000 players. Not only that, but it also became one of Steam’s top-selling games on the service.
Release Update 2.1.2 brings the classification of servers allowing more player freedom in terms of three server types. BattleBit Remastered now recognizes its servers as official servers, official community servers, and modded Servers. Unlike official and community servers, things such as weapons and level progression in BattleBit Remastered won’t be saved on modded servers. These servers will allow players to be involved further within a community whether they want to join one or create their own for others to enjoy.
Along with the new addition of server types functionality, changes have been made to the “Quick Match” selection. Players will now be given the option to choose what type of servers they want to queue up for when playing Quick Match. This ensures that players new and old in BattleBit Remastered can enjoy their experience the way they want to. The server browser has been updated as well making it easier to find servers faster.
Following the heels of its popularity surge, the team behind BattleBit Remastered is focusing on providing new content and changes to improve the player experience. A developer on the team named TheLiquidHorse held an AMA a few months back and shared with the community answers and plans the dev team has for BattleBit Remastered.
While BattleBit Remastered may not generate as much hype as it did when it went viral, the dev team is still committed to creating a title that the community can enjoy. Regarding its attraction to the player base, the simplicity behind it is what captures many fans of the FPS genre. During the AMA when asked about the sudden success of BattleBit Remastered, TheLiquidHorse credits it to the fact that the team has more freedom to try new things when compared to titles like Call of Duty or Battlefield.
