It's time to say goodbye to Battlefield 1, because the fan-favorite entry in the long-running FPS franchise will soon be leaving PlayStation Plus. Battlefield 1 was first released in 2016 and was a massive success for DICE and EA. Battlefield 1 sold over 15 million copies, earned mostly positive reviews from critics, and has remained one of the most-played games in the series even in the wake of successors like Battlefield V and 2042 hitting the market.
Battlefield 1's World War 1 setting was an interesting change of pace for the franchise. It featured an exciting, action-packed single-player campaign, and the franchise's tried-and-true multiplayer experience, all brought to life with eye-popping graphics that still hold up nearly a decade later. PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers have been able to enjoy everything Battlefield 1 has to offer for quite some time, but they will soon be saying goodbye to the game.

Battlefield 6 is out! But, where does it sit among the best Battlefield games in EA's franchise? First?
Battlefield 1 is Leaving PS Plus Soon
It's been confirmed that Battlefield 1 is leaving PS Plus Extra on October 21. Battlefield 1 is one of four games leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium on that day, with Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Tour de France 2023, and The Last Clockwinder also on the way out. While it's sad to see any game removed from PS Plus, Battlefield 1 is likely going to hurt the most for PS Plus subscribers.
Battlefield 6 May Spell the End for BF1
Battlefield 1 leaving PS Plus is one reason some fans will be saying goodbye to the game soon, but another is because of the impending launch of Battlefield 6. Battlefield V's reception was mixed, while Battlefield 2042 was panned. The lackluster follow-ups played a huge role in fans sticking with Battlefield 1, but hype is high for Battlefield 6. If Battlefield 6 lives up to expectations, it could be the final nail in the coffin for the older BF games like Battlefield 1. Once the new game is out and if it's good, it's hard to imagine Battlefield 1 enjoying the big player count spikes it's experienced over the years.
EA hasn't announced any plans to shut down Battlefield 1 yet, but fans should brace themselves because it will inevitably happen at some point down the line. EA shuts down games on a near-monthly basis, Battlefield titles included, and if the remaining BF1 players migrate to BF6, who's to say that process won't be accelerated. Whatever the case may be, PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers should get their fill of Battlefield 1 while they still can, as we know for sure it's leaving the service on October 21.
