Summary

  • The current Battlefield 2024 x Dead Space crossover event is offering players a chance to earn four in-game rewards.
  • Players can most easily earn Dead Space-themed rewards by playing the newly-added Outbreak mode.
  • The event will conclude on July 16, giving players less than one week to snag the new rewards.

Battlefield 2042 has detailed a set of four in-game rewards players can earn by playing the game's new Outbreak mode, which has been added as part of the game's Dead Space crossover event. Currently in its final season, the Dead Space collab in Battlefield 2042 seems like a final farewell for the multiplayer shooter that, despite making a respectable comeback from its 2021 launch state, is ending support after this season.

Set on Battlefield 2042's Boreas map, Outbreak is a capture point-based PvE game mode that sees a squad of four players take on waves of humanoid AI Geist enemies. The limited-time event brings EA's horror franchise Dead Space into Battlefield 2042 by way of a paid bundle, containing the Isaac Clarke-inspired Marked Man skin as the big ticket item. With EA rumored to be canceling plans to remake Dead Space 2 following last year's success of the original game's remake, this Battlefield crossover seems like a solid way for fans of the horror series to connect with the franchise for now.

Apart from the purchasable cosmetic bundle, Battlefield 2042 players will also be able to earn a handful of Dead Space- themed rewards for free by simply playing any official mode, though playing Outbreak will double progression. At 20 ribbons, players will earn a weapon charm named Future Imperfect, based on Dead Space's creepy, monolithic Marker. An Isaac Clarke player card, player tag, and the classic Dead Space Plasma Cutter-inspired MP28 weapon skin called Made Anew are unlocked at 40, 60, and 80 ribbons, respectively.

Battlefield 2042 X Dead Space Event Rewards

  • Future Imperfect Weapon Charm (20 Ribbons)
  • Genesis / Necrosis Player Card (40 Ribbons)
  • Unifier Player Tag (60 Ribbons)
  • Made Anew MP28 Pistol Skin (80 Ribbons)

While the first three Dead Space goodies on the reward path seem solid, some Battlefield 2042 players are taking issue with the Made Anew weapon skin, disappointed that it's only available for the MP28, which is considered to be one of the game's weaker pistols. Though, with the design of Battlefield's MP28 in mind, it does make sense as to why DICE chose the pistol for the Dead Space Plasma Cutter skin, since the designs do look similar.

Even though Battlefield 2042's Dead Space event has only just started, players will have just one week to earn all the rewards before it wraps up on July 16. Being that there are only four rewards, all earnable for a total of 80 ribbons, players should be able to snag them all with plenty of time to spare. As for Battlefield 2042 itself, Season 7 began in March, and the game is likely in its final few weeks of support before DICE moves on to its next title.
