Light machine guns are much more cumbersome to use in Battlefield 6 compared to other weapons, but they offer incredible stopping power at long range, and they can keep enemies suppressed for far longer, preventing injured targets from recovering their health naturally. These weapons are just as lethal as everything else in the game, but players will need to adapt to their playstyle.

The following list ranks all the LMGs in Battlefield 6 according to their power compared to each other as well as their effectiveness throughout the game's many maps and modes. If you want to learn how to become a good machine gunner, then this guide should help you pick out the weapon that's right for you.

We ranked this list according to weapon performance and adaptability over different ranges. Most of the maps in Battlefield 6 contain a mix of short-long sightlines, with the smaller maps having more confined engagement ranges than others. As such, the best machine gun in the game should be able to fight effectively regardless of how far away they are, though this doesn't mean that the more specialized ones don't deserve any recognition. Below, we'll explain why we ranked in each weapon in their respective places.

M250

The King of Consistency

BF6 M250 Stats
Battlefield 6 M250 Stats

The M250 is very similar to the M277 in BF6 — both have an incredibly consistent damage profile, capable of hitting targets for 25 damage to the body in ranges of up to 80 meters and beyond. The M250 is classified as a long-range weapon, but with a decent fire rate of 675 RPM, it's more than capable of dealing with threats at close range too.

Perhaps the biggest downside of the M250 is its magazine capacity. It only comes with a 50-round box mag, and to get the 100-round version, you need to reach Rank 22 with the weapon and free up a whopping 55 attachment points. Still, this LMG is very reliable at all ranges, and if you can get a good firing position, you'll be shredding infantry without breaking a sweat.

M240L

High-Caliber Firepower

BF6 M240L Stats
Battlefield 6 M240L Stats

It's safe to think of the M240L as a more aggressive version of the M250. This LMG can also deal up to 25 body shot damage at 80 meters, but its real strength is its ability to kill enemies in 3 body shots from up to 10 meters away. Its 600 RPM fire rate makes it much less oppressive than the M250L in those medium-long-range engagements, but ultimately, it's not a bad gun from those distances as long as you mount it on a surface or deploy a bipod.

Much like the M250, the M240L has a relatively small default mag capacity of only 50 rounds. It has a 100-round box mag too, but this one only costs 25 points instead of the M250's 55.

M/60

The Ol' Reliable

BF6 M/60 Stats

While the M/60 may be one of the slowest-firing guns in the game, it makes up for that by having the same stopping power as the two previous weapons — it takes 3 bullets to kill someone up close, and 4 to put someone down from 80+ meters away. It is also very accurate, and its slow fire rate makes firing the weapon feel a lot more pleasant compared to some others.

The M/60 does start with a 100-round magazine, and while it does pack a punch, you're likely to get outgunned by someone using an assault rifle or an SMG in BF6 if you get caught in close quarters. Sure, you can gun them down with just a few bullets, but you'll likely be dead before you even get to fire your third shot if you get jumped by a flanker. Even so, the M/60/s 3-bullet-kill potential and reliability at medium-long range earns it its spot this high up in our list.

DRS-IAR

The Assault Rifle in Disguise

BF6 DRS-IAR Stats
Battlefield 6 DRS-IAR Stats

Based on the real-life M27, the DRS-IAR is an assault rifle that historically fulfilled an automatic rifleman's role. In BF6, it maintains its role as a highly accurate gun capable of suppressing enemies from long range while also being capable of shredding infantry in close quarters. It outperforms most carbines in Battlefield 6 in terms of sheer damage output over range, and depending on how you build it, the DRS-IAR can be a heavy support weapon or a light rifle for close combat.

There are very few bad things to say about this LMG. What's worth noting, though, is that it feels quite sluggish by default. It takes a while to reload, and the gun's weight drags its ADS speed down by a fair bit compared to assault rifles, SMGs, and carbines.

RPKM

High Accuracy, Low Recoil

BF6 RPKM Stats

The RPKM is much like the DRS-IAR in a few regards — both look and feel like heavy assault rifles, but the RPKM trades close-quarters effectiveness for dominance in medium range. It has a steady fire rate of 553 RPM and an average bullet-to-kill count of 5 from 15 to 80+ meters. The TTK on the RPKM is a little slow, but it is devastating if you can catch enemies off-guard with it.

Unfortunately, the RPKM does get overshadowed by the top 3 weapons on this list when it comes to mid-long-range supremacy, but since this weapon feeds off AK-style magazines, its downtime is much shorter when you need to reload.

M123K

The Cheesemaker

BF6 M123K Stats
Battlefield 6 M123K Stats

The M123K is the fastest-firing LMG in BF6, clocking in at 830 RPM with a max damage value of 25. This gun can put a target down extremely quickly, and its recoil isn't that bad either. Despite being listed as a Close Range weapon, the M123K is more than capable of engaging enemies past the 80-meter mark, but bipods and/or burst-firing will be mandatory for those ranges.

If all you want out of a machine gun is to fill everything at the opposite end of your barrel with holes, then the M123K is your best bet, especially if you're playing Support for the LMG handling bonus. It is extremely satisfying to use in maps like Siege of Cairo, though it does tend to be a bit unreliable at longer ranges without the right setup.

L110

General Purpose Support Weapon

BF6 L110 Stats
Battlefield 6 L110 Stats

The starting LMG performs well right out of the box, and it doesn't really need much to become effective at all ranges. Its fire rate of 720 RPM makes it a perfectly decent weapon at 10 to 80 meters, and you can't really go wrong with it. However, the M123K is basically a better version of the L110 — both guns deal the same damage at the same distances, but since the M123K fires faster, it is simply more lethal than the L110 in basically every scenario.

Still, the difference between the L110 and M123K is minor, and if you like one of these guns, the other will likely be just as appealing.

KTS100 MK8

Extreme Accuracy and Ease-of-Use

BF6 Ultimax Stats
Battlefield 6 KTS100 Stats

The KTS100 MK8 is designed for accurate suppressive fire over long ranges. Not only does this gun barely have any kick, but it also retains much of its accuracy during long bursts. Bloom in BF6 usually has a drastic effect on the majority of weapons, but that's simply not the case for the KTS100 — this LMG remains accurate even after roughly 20 consecutive shots, and after that, it only becomes slightly inaccurate.

Being able to consistently hit targets at range is great and all, but since the KTS100 shares the same 513 RPM fire rate as the M/60 without the damage to match it, this LMG will feel weak to most players. Its damage drops to 17 at 80 meters, which is the lowest among all LMGs so far. Apart from its low recoil and high sustained accuracy while firing, the KTS100 tends to get outperformed by pretty much everything else at all ranges.
