Battlefield 6 senior console combat designer Matthew Nickerson has confirmed that auto-spotted will be nerfed in the full release. This change comes after many players complained about it being overpowered in the Battlefield 6 open beta.
During early to mid August, Battlefield Studios held two open beta periods for the game, in which anyone could download and play Battlefield 6. Not only were these great for building hype, but they were extremely useful in gathering feedback as the developer tunes Battlefield 6 for its full release on October 10. It's clear that the developer is taking this feedback seriously, too, with a plethora of changes coming to Battlefield 6 following beta feedback already revealed.

Leaked videos show off roughly 15 minutes of gameplay from Battlefield 6's battle royale mode, just days after EA revealed more information about it.
Battlefield 6 is Nerfing Auto-Spotting After Beta Feedback
Speaking to IGN, senior console combat designer, Matthew Nickerson, revealed that auto-spotting feature from Battlefield 6's Recon class is being toned down from the open beta. "Yeah, we definitely reduced the range and overall reduced the power," Nickerson said. "Really, players ended up just shooting Doritos. Light environments, dark environments – they were just like, ‘Hey, aim at the Dorito. You’re going to hit something at the end of the day.’"
Nickerson elaborated further, noting that spotting in Battlefield 6 is still important, as it has been throughout the series. "Again, we want the information. It’s important to ping players, but it’s got to be an active part of Battlefield. It can’t just be a fire-and-forget sweep across the whole thing [and] everyone’s lit up. That was very apparent in open beta, so we’ve made some considerable changes to the system."
As the release of Battlefield 6 draws closer, more news arrives seemingly every day about what players can expect from the game. Just recently, it emerged that Battlefield 6 will have console-only crossplay, which will come as great news to controller users who struggle when playing against mouse and keyboard players. Whether Battlefield Studios manages to adequately address all of players' complaints from the open beta remains to be seen.
