Gauntlet mode is one of the F2P offerings Battlefield 6 has, and unlike RedSec's traditional battle royale gameplay, this one is a more condensed and focused experience. Multiple squads will face each other in intense firefights across four rounds until only one remains, and since Gauntlet takes place in the Fort Lyndon map, players will want to bring loadouts that cater to its unique environments. This Battlefield 6 guide covers the best guns in each weapon category as well as class-specific loadouts that can help players win more in Gauntlet mode.
It's worth emphasizing that every weapon in Battlefield 6 can work well in Gauntlet mode. However, given the game mode's nature, some guns are bound to outperform others. The weapons we picked here are specifically meant to outmatch others in Gauntlet mode's ever-changing engagements.
Best Class Loadouts for Gauntlet Mode in BF6
Gauntlet is primarily a squad-oriented game mode, which means interplay between player classes is going to be crucial to securing victory. The classes here use the same Field Specs that regular BF6 MP does, so don't expect anything too crazy when it comes to passives compared to RedSec.
Since Gauntlet uses the open weapons system, this section of the guide will focus on gadgets. If you're interested in the best weapons for BF6 Gauntlet mode, you can skip this part.

The Assault Ladder is great for reaching high ground or catching enemies unaware, while the M320 HE Launcher can let you either finish off enemies, crack someone's armor, or destroy cover. If you're playing as the Assault class in BF6 Gauntlet mode, you need to be the one who is taking and securing space for your team.
If you're playing as an Engineer, then you're responsible for destroying buildings and vehicles. The RPG-7 is the best rocket launcher in your arsenal in terms of raw damage output, but if you don't have it yet, you can easily rely on the MBT Law. Use your Vehicle Supply Crate to replenish ammo for any vehicle you find, and if you don't have that one yet, go with AV Mines — lay them in front and behind of vehicles you don't plan on using, and you can use them to blow up walls too (place them down and shoot them).
The Support player's job is to keep everyone alive and stocked up on ammo and ordnance. Use your Smoke Launcher to cover your position or deny an enemy's line of sight, and if you haven't unlocked this gadget from one of the Support challenges yet, then go with Smoke Grenades and the Deployable Cover gadget instead. Incendiary Grenades are great for denying revives, though, so try to use these if you have other sources of smoke cover in your squad.
Lastly, if you're playing Recon, use the Recon Drone to scope out the battlefield. Information is invaluable in game modes like these, and if you know where the enemies are, you're basically set for success. For your secondary gadget, take either C4 Explosives to counter vehicles and destroy buildings, or Claymores to setup traps for the enemy.
Best Assault Rifles for BF6 Gauntlet Mode
The Kord is our top pick for ARs for Gauntlet mode. We also ranked it first in our best ARs list for BF6, and that's largely thanks to its high accuracy, low recoil, and quick optimal TTK at up to medium range. The armor platings on players in Gauntlet mode makes it a bit less ammo efficient, but it can still tear into your targets quickly if you can land all your shots.
Our second pick for ARs is the AK4D. We ranked it at the bottom of our best assault rifles list, but for Gauntlet, it's actually quite good for the following reasons:
- Most maps in Gauntlet mode feature long sightlines that players can easily take and hold.
- High-damage guns are more valuable in Gauntlet mode due to players having armor plates.
It'll still struggle at close range, though, but if you're hitting headshots, you should win those CQB gunfights often.
The M433 and B36A4 are worthy alternatives to these weapons thanks to the former's high close-range DPS and the latter's reliability at all but the longest of ranges.
Best SMGs for BF6 Gauntlet Mode
The PW5A3 is by far the best SMG for this mode. Apart from having solid DPS that can easily take a fully-armored player down, it's also extremely easy to use even at medium range. Additionally, the PW5A3 is unlocked at a very early level, making it accessible to all players (especially the F2P folks who don't have access to the core game modes).
Of course, we can't gloss over the SCW-10. This is one of the fastest-killing guns in the entire game, and while the addition of armor makes its weaknesses even worse in Gauntlet mode, it's hard to deny that the SCW-10 is still a powerful pick. However, we only recommend taking this gun to Gauntlet if you have access to its 20-round magazine. You will always be fighting more than one person here, and if you get caught without any bullets in your mag, you're going to lose a lot of steam very quickly.
Best Carbines for BF6 Gauntlet Mode
The SG-553R and QBZ-192 are very closely tied for the top spot here. The former has better damage in close quarters, while the other is simply easier to use. If you like getting into your enemy's face, then the SG-553R is the better choice. Otherwise, go with the QBZ-192 for its low recoil and decent full-auto accuracy.
You can't go wrong with the M4A1 in Gauntlet mode either. Its damage profile makes it a very attractive option for close-ranged fights, though it starts to suffer beyond 25 meters due to damage fall-off and enemy armor.
Best LMGs for BF6 Gauntlet Mode
As for machine guns, we have three recommendations:
- The M60 is great for the same reasons as the AK4D.
- The M123K is excellent for fighting in CQB.
- The M250 is highly accurate and deals excellent damage over long ranges.
Players can get a lot of mileage out of the M60 thanks to it dealing 33 damage per shot at 0 to 25 meters, and since you yourself will have an armor plate protecting you, you'll have a bit more leeway in close quarters here compared to the regular modes. If you find yourself struggling at close range, consider the M123K instead.
Meanwhile, the M250 is more about consistency than raw DPS. It deals 25 damage up to 100 meters, which translates to a six shot kill against armored players. This weapon is great for those wide, open sections of Fort Lyndon, though it's not terrible at close range either.
Best DMR for BF6 Gauntlet Mode
Frankly, every DMR in BF6 is good for Gauntlet except for the LMR27. There's not much reason to use that weapon over anything else due to its relatively low damage per shot, small magazine size, and lengthy reload time. As for the other DMRs, consider these:
- The SVK can kill armored players with three hits to the chest or two hits to the head.
- The SVDM and M39 require more bullets to kill, but they fire faster, making them suitable for close range.
Best Shotguns for BF6 Gauntlet Mode
The M1014 is arguably the best shotgun for Gauntlet because of its high damage and sem-auto firing mode. It fires faster than the M870, and it deals more damage than the 18.5KS-K. Once you equip Slug ammo on the M1014, it blows the rest out of the water.
However, keep in mind that shotguns won't be able to one-shot armored targets in Gauntlet mode. Slug rounds will extend your effective range by a little bit, but you'll still get outgunned by someone with another non-shotgun weapon in an upfront fight from medium ranges. We only recommend using shotguns during the final round, or when you know you're doing a lot of fighting at close range.
Best Sniper Rifle for BF6 Gauntlet Mode
The M2010 ESR is the best pick for snipers for this game mode. It is the most well-rounded weapon in its category, with its bullet velocity and fire rate beating those of the PSR and SV-98, and it out-damages the Mini Fix too.
Admittedly, all sniper rifles feel more or less the same, so it's up to you which one you want to bring. The Mini Fix is an exception, however, as it can't one-shot armored players.
