The second open beta weekend for Battlefield 6 is now in full swing, and Sony has once again confirmed that those playing on PS5 will still have the opportunity to nab an exclusive skin and double XP, but only if they're subscribed to PlayStation Plus. Although Sony hasn't announced any sort of exclusive marketing deal for Battlefield 6, there does appear to be some agreement in place between the two, as no other platform has been given any exclusive rewards.
After a massively successful first beta earlier this month, fans were eager to jump into its second weekend to check out the latest additions. Unfortunately, there have already been some serious issues with Battlefield 6's latest open beta. As fans quickly dove in on August 14, they were met with some lengthy matchmaking queues, error messages, and even party system issues that prevented many from teaming up with their friends and family. There have also been some serious complaints around Rush, which made its return for the final open beta. Changes to the number of players, scale, and removal of vehicles have left fans disappointed and calling for some major changes.
Battlefield May Have a Surprising Plan in Place to Fight BF6’s Post-Beta Depression
The open beta for BF6 will soon be over, but it seems EA has one surprise up its sleeve to keep fans entertained in the lead-up to the game's launch.
Battlefield 6 Beta Is Giving PS Plus Users An Exclusive Skin
Those who haven't been put off by the recent controversies will be pleased to know that there are still plenty of great Battlefield 6 rewards up for grabs. Although Sony hasn't confirmed that it has any marketing deal in place with EA for Battlefield 6, those on PlayStation 5 can earn themselves an exclusive skin and double XP if they are a PlayStation Plus subscriber. To claim the skin, players simply need to be subscribed to any of the three PS Plus tiers available and jump into the beta between August 14 and 17. While double XP will be granted during this period, the exclusive skin won't be unlocked until the game's full release on October 10.
Fans who are eager to get their hands on as many rewards as possible may want to consider purchasing Battlefield 6's Phantom Edition. While it's a little pricier than the Standard Edition, it does come with four Phantom Squad soldier skins, numerous cosmetic items, a Battlefield Pro Token, which gives players access to the Battle Pass and 25 tier skips, and more. But if that wasn't enough, players who pre-order either edition of Battlefield 6 will also receive the Tombstone Pack, which includes a soldier skin, weapon charm, XP boost set, weapon package, soldier patch, weapon sticker, and a player card.
There are only a few days left of Battlefield 6's final open beta weekend, but it thankfully won't be long until the full release. Although there's currently no release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, rumors suggest it will launch on November 14, just a few weeks after Battlefield 6's October 10 release date. The two series haven't gone head-to-head since the disastrous launch of Battlefield 2042 in 2021, but it looks like things could be drastically different this time.
With fans growing tired of the unrealistic cosmetic items and poor post-launch updates for Call of Duty, the community seems to be looking elsewhere. In its first open beta weekend, Battlefield 6 broke an impressive record and soared past Call of Duty's all-time peak concurrent player count, with over 521,000 active players on Steam. For an open beta, this is massively impressive and could be a sign of things to come when the two go head-to-head later this year.
