Battlefield 6's highly anticipated battle royale mode could be coming as soon as October 28, according to leaks and speculation. Granted, EA and Battlefield Studios have yet to comment on these claims, and have even contradicted them in the past, stating that the Battlefield 6 battle royale wouldn't be available until "months after" launch.
As many fans are likely aware, October 28 is the official start date for Battlefield 6 Season 1.
As such, it's good to take any Battlefield 6 battle royale information with a grain of salt, but that doesn't mean throwing it out altogether. Indeed, proven industry insiders claim that the multiplayer mode is imminent, and dataminers have discovered what many are calling proof of an October 28 release date within Battlefield 6's files. Additionally, a number of short gameplay clips of this nascent BR mode have leaked in recent weeks, as has what appears to be an early version of its map. Synthesizing this information, a few conclusions can be drawn, even if the final product is subject to change.
Battlefield 6: Battle Royale Rumors and Leaked Gameplay Footage Explained
Battlefield 6's Battle Royale Mode Looks a Lot Like Call of Duty: Warzone
Many franchises have attempted to ape the battle royale formula in the wake of smash-hits like PUBG and Fortnite, and Warzone has certainly been among the most successful. Whereas big swings like Hyper Scape fizzled out early, Warzone has been consistently popular, appealing to both the battle royale and Call of Duty fan groups, which admittedly have a good deal of overlap. It makes sense, then, that Battlefield 6's swing at a battle royale would take clear notes from Warzone.
Based on leaked footage from Twitter accounts like BobNetworkUK, Battlefield 6's battle royale mode will be set in a large, modern open zone, not unlike Verdansk in its scope and style. Players will be able to paraglide through this space, presumably upon first booting up a match, and will start with a rudimentary loadout comprised of a sledgehammer, a pistol, and a grenade—they'll be left to scrounge for any other offensive and defensive implements. Leaked Battlefield 6 footage also shows replenishable armor plates, a downed state prior to final death, crates with various weapons, and a color-coded system to denote weapon rarity.
In a further parallel with Warzone, it would appear that Battlefield 6's BR mode will allow you to access some of your custom weapons through air supply drops, activated upon completing certain side challenges. Solo play has yet to be confirmed by any reliable sources, though popular accounts like ModernWarzone, which has made several accurate CoD and Battlefield predictions in the past, claim that there will be two matchmaking modes: Duos and Quads. ModernWarzone also claims that the battle royale mode will be called Battlefield: RedSec.
Battlefield: RedSec's Franchise Staples Will Hopefully Set It Apart
Leaks about this "RedSec" game mode have also noted that it won't be a pared-down version of Battlefield 6's core multiplayer offerings: destructibility will still play a key role, as will vehicles, tanks, helicopters, and the like. These factors, combined with traditional BR features like 100-player matches, are among the most promising leaked aspects of Battlefield: RedSec, despite being the most predictable, given Battlefield as a franchise.
As always, leaks and rumors shouldn't be taken as gospel. It would certainly be interesting if Battlefield 6's battle royale mode were to launch on October 28, as the lack of any real marketing for the update would effectively make it a shadow-drop. It would definitely be a bold move, but given how well Battlefield 6's initial rollout has been, it might not be the craziest idea.
