The Engineer class is responsible for maintaining and destroying vehicles in Battlefield 6, but their role goes beyond just that. They're also good at denying areas with mines, robbing enemies of cover with their rocket launchers, and a variety of support-oriented actions with the trusty EOD Bot.

With new gadgets and the revamped Field Specs in Battlefield 6, Engineer players now have a lot more playstyles to choose from. This guide covers a few loadouts for the Engineer class to help players figure out the best gear they can bring for the roles they want to do in a game.

Anti-Armor

If you're playing one of Battlefield 6's All Out Warfare modes, then you'll likely encounter enemy vehicles many times. As the only class that has access to reliable anti-vehicle tools, you'll want to focus on taking out tanks, IFVs, and aircraft so everyone else can focus on their own roles.

The RPG-7V2 is our recommended rocket launcher for this loadout simply because it doesn't require any target locking. Unlike the MBT Law, this launcher can hit the side and rear armor of vehicles, making it potentially stronger if you can position yourself correctly. The M136 AT Aim-Guided Launcher is also decent, but it's farther down the Engineer progression path.

As for your AV mines, the default ones do a great job at slowing down armed assaults. If the enemy always manages to blow your mines up, switch to the Acoustic AV Sensor Mines — these fire projectiles that hit vehicles from above, and they can be placed away from roads and other places where a tank player is likely to be cautious of.

If the enemy has air superiority, use the Spire AA launcher to scare off choppers and jets. If there are Recon players on your team using the Laser Designator or Tracer Dart gadgets, consider using the Glaive for long-ranged tank hunting.

Combat Engineer

In terms of playstyle, this is the one that the majority of Engineers default to — stand behind your vehicle, and keep repairing. Place down a Vehicle Supply Crate to rearm friendly tanks, and try to get a few good hits against enemy armor using your rocket launcher when you aren't taking fire.

If you're playing with a squad, then an EOD Bot might be worth bringing over the Vehicle Supply Crate. It effectively allows you to be in two places at once, provided you can communicate with your tank drivers. Park your EOD Bot somewhere near your allied vehicle, and just leave it there until your friend needs repairs. You can also use the bot to plant mines and destroy gadgets.

While you're not repairing, support your team with your weapons and Mini Frag Grenades. The latter can be tossed farther, and you can carry more of them, though they aren't as lethal as regular frags. Lob these toward the enemy whenever you can to flush them out of cover. Ask a Support player to drop an ammo crate on top of the tank you're repairing so you can restock on grenades and rockets.

Don't forget to activate your Thermal Overdrive ability whenever your friendly tanks are taking too much damage.

Why No SMGs?

Despite Engineers having SMGs as their signature weapons, we recommend against using them if you're planning on supporting vehicles. Tanks and IFVs tend to stay in ranges beyond an SMG's effective range, so if you want to help your team while you're behind a vehicle, you're better off with a machine gun, DMR, or sniper rifle.
