Judging by the number of fans who checked out the trailers and then jumped into the open beta, it's clear that Battlefield 6 is lining up to be a huge success, and for good reason, too. After two disappointing entries in the esteemed FPS franchise, everything is pointing toward Battlefield 6 being a game-changer, not just for the series, but potentially for the genre too.
Battlefield 6: Best Tips, Tricks, and Game Settings
Here are a few gameplay tips and the best game settings in Battlefield 6 to help you reach the top of the scoreboard more often.
This article will explore a number of factors that could make BF6 a game-changer, although until the full game is launched on 10th October 2025, it can't be said for sure that it will live up to the hype.
Destruction Taken To A Whole Other Level
Destruction Also Serves Tactical Purposes
For nearly two decades, Battlefield has set itself apart from similar games with destruction physics. However, while good for their time, all previous destruction mechanics pale in comparison to those introduced in Battlefield 6. Almost every part of the maps can be changed with a few RPGs, a tank, or other explosives.
While the visual effects and crumbling concrete are epic to watch, the destruction is not just cosmetic, but can, in fact, have large effects on the gameplay. For example, players can blow up certain bridges or walkways, meaning that two locations will no longer be connected or at least not in the same way. It's also possible to destroy entire rooms or cover that was causing problems.
No More Silly Skins
Fans Are Happy With The Pledges To Keep The Game Grounded
After years of previous Battlefield games, Call of Duty games, and other shooters having silly skins, fans are excited that the BF6 devs are intending to keep things grounded and immersive. While silly skins and crossover collaborations have their place in games such as Fortnite, the best and most beloved Battlefield games are those from times before micro-transactions took over the gaming world.
While there will be skins and other cosmetics to purchase or unlock, these will all be military skins, representing various branches of the NATO and Pax Armata factions. This will stop fans from being put off, and could even help draw back some old-school players who have since navigated towards more realistic military sim games, such as the Arma series. Players who are annoyed by some of Call of Duty's more egregious skins ruining their game are also more likely to jump ship if DICE keep their promise.
Custom Matchmaking & A Server Browser
Players Have Been Demanding Control Over Which Matches They Jump Into
Battlefield 2042 fans were not happy when the game had no server browser, even though it did have the Portal system, where non-persistent servers could be hosted with fewer options than usual. To improve on this, Battlefield 6 will provide something similar, but without it being hidden behind the Portal, meaning more players will use it, thus populating more hosted servers. Unfortunately, this is not available in the beta.
Every Battlefield Game, Ranked
Battlefield 6 is out! But, where does it sit among the best Battlefield games in EA's franchise? First?
In addition to this, and perhaps simpler for those used to standard matchmaking, players can customize their matchmaking experience. In this feature, which became available in the second beta weekend, players can select exactly which maps and game modes they want to queue up. This can help provide variety, and if players hate a certain map, they can completely avoid it.
The Most Photo-Realistic Graphics To Date
Breathtaking Textures, Lighting, & Animations
Even if players don't click with the gunplay or pace of the game, nobody can deny Battlefield 6's beauty. Whether the fighting is in the mountains of Tajikistan, on the streets of New York, or on the island of Gibraltar, every environment is absolutely breathtaking, and players can easily forget they are playing a game.
It's not just the textures and lighting that are impressive, however, but the animations too, which give Battlefield a more fluid look when compared to previous entries. These photo-realistic graphics and animations will hopefully be put to great use in the campaign.
Peak/Lean Around Corners & Mount Behind Cover
Improves Gunplay & Immersion
Great for immersion as well, players can now automatically lean around corners or cover, making for more fluid and tactical gameplay. This feels great, and as it isn't done manually, it's good for new and casual players.
Every Main Call Of Duty Campaign, Ranked
From the original Call of Duty to the most recent title, the franchise has enjoyed a history of incredible campaigns... For the most part.
Additionally, when firing from behind cover, players can temporarily mount/rest their gun on the cover. This is done by aiming down sight and then clicking the Right Stick on the controller or F on the keyboard. Doing so will keep shots steady and make the character slightly safer behind cover. It's even possible to mount on the edge of a corner.
Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat Should Mean Fairer Games
There Was No Anti-Cheat In Older Battlefield Games
While kernel-level anti-cheat was ultimately implemented in Battlefield 2042, followed by some older titles, no Battlefield has launched with anti-cheat, and enjoyed a fairer heyday. Battlefield 6, however, will have Javelin Anticheat from the start.
Although some cheaters have already broken through these protections in the open beta, hundreds of thousands of attempts have also been blocked, and the developers now have lots to learn from. In terms of whether Battlefield 6 is indeed a game-changer, part of its success will come down to how well the anti-cheat works.
