Battlefield 6 brings back the large-scale conflicts and fast-paced multiplayer modes, while also giving players the option to team up with friends across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation via Crossplay. It's one of the best features in the game, which brings together players from different platforms onto a single battlefield to either play together or against each other. This guide will cover how Crossplay and Cross-Progression work in BF6, and how you can invite your friends to play together.
Pros & Cons of Buying Battlefield 6 for the Single-Player Campaign
Here's a list of pros and cons to help players decide whether they should buy Battlefield 6 just for the single-player story campaign or not.
How to Add & Invite Friends in Battlefield 6 (All Platforms)
Battlefield 6 fully supports Crossplay and Cross-Progression, which allows players to easily add their friends across all platforms. The process is relatively simple, given that you enter the correct username of your friend into the search bar utility EA offers in-game. Here's where to find the username for your friend and add them to BF6.
The Crossplay in Battlefield 6 works by linking all platforms via the EA ID. Make sure that all party members have an EA account created and linked to the game. You can check out this official resource from EA on creating an account and getting your ID. After the ID is created, make sure to link it to BF6 when prompted on launch.
Start by selecting the "+" icon in the top-right corner of your screen in the main menu.
If you're on a PC, simply click on the "Friend Requests" tab. On consoles, you can press the RT (Xbox) or R2 (PlayStation) buttons to access the Connect menu and LB/RB (Xbox), or L1/R1 (PlayStation) to scroll through different tabs. After scrolling to the tab, click on the "Add Friends" button in the menu.
Once you enter the "Add Friends" menu, you'll spot a little box on the right side with your EA ID mentioned on it. Make sure to share your EA ID with your friends on either the same or a different platform for them to add you.
The same applies in the opposite case as well, when you're trying to add your friends. They'll need to share their EA IDs found in the same section for all platforms, i.e., PC, Xbox, PlayStation, for you to add them.
Right after entering your friend's EA ID and sending a request, they'll need to accept it on their end for you both to show up on each other's BF6 friend list and vice versa.
After you've successfully added a friend, simply click on their profile and either choose "Invite to Party" or "Join Game." However, you'll need to ensure that your friends on consoles have enabled the Crossplay option, which we'll get into below.
How Does Cross-Progression in Battlefield 6 Work? After logging in with the same EA account on a different platform, players will be able to carry over their progress. However, they'll still need to buy a separate copy for the new platform they're trying to play from.
How to Turn Off Crossplay in Battlefield 6
Crossplay is a great feature that links friends together to play Battlefield 6, despite their different platforms. While the option is turned on by default when you first launch the game, there's a way for console players to turn off Crossplay for Battlefield 6.
Even with Crossplay on, consoles will prioritize matching you with players on the same platform. It's only after failing to find enough players while matchmaking, it'll open up full Crossplay to look for PC players to fill up the spots.
To turn off Crossplay in Battlefield 6, follow the instructions below.
- Head to the settings tab (gear icon) from the main menu.
- Go to the "System" tab in settings.
- Under the "Setup" section, you'll find the Crossplay option. You can choose to either enable or disable it from here.
While BF6 players on consoles have an option to disable Crossplay, PC players do not have this option. Hence, they have no choice but to eventually matchmake with mixed players, both across PCs and consoles.
