Battlefield 6 is already reeling in thousands of players on Steam alone, with fans from all around the world jumping in. From large-scale modes like Conquest that deliver all-out war to smaller CQB modes like Team Deathmatch that focus on tight, infantry-based combat, there’s something for everyone this year. With even more content already on the way for upcoming seasons, the hype is definitely high.
While many players may be jumping in just for some casual fun, there’s no denying that Battlefield 6 can be quite the grind, putting players through the tough task of unlocking Camos and completing Assignments to earn new weapons and skins. However, one particular Assignment that tasks players with performing Takedowns might just be one of the hardest yet. Here’s how players can perform Takedowns in Battlefield 6, along with some tips to help complete this challenging Assignment.

How to Perform Takedowns in Battlefield 6
Takedowns have been a staple feature in Battlefield for quite some time now, and make their return in Battlefield 6 in a similar way to past entries. To perform a Takedown, players need to hold the melee button when behind or to the side of an enemy. Before performing a melee, players may see a Takedown prompt appear on the screen, thus making it easier to determine whether the melee will result in a Takedown before performing it.
Doing so will trigger a unique animation depending on the melee weapon equipped and, if left uninterrupted, will eliminate the target. The Takedown animations in Battlefield 6 are fairly brief. However, keep in mind that while performing a Takedown, you’re vulnerable to being shot by other players, which can interrupt the animation entirely. Takedowns will also steal the enemy’s Dog Tag and prevent them from being revived by any means.
The best way to secure a Takedown is to approach enemies from behind, either by flanking or waiting around corners for the perfect opportunity to strike. Takedowns are required for the Combat Expert 2 Assignment Challenge, which tasks players with getting 10 Takedowns in a single match.
The best way to complete this challenge is to play CQB modes like Team Deathmatch and Squad Deathmatch, or medium-sized game modes like Rush. Since the maps in these modes are generally smaller, players will have more opportunities to secure Takedowns. Once the challenge is completed, players will unlock the Avalanche Fireteam Vedmak Engineer and Glacial Coyote Squad Engineer skins.
