Some Battlefield 6 players are not happy with the new Blackwell Fields map, which was recently added in Season One. The start of the season should be an exciting time for the Battlefield 6 community, but most gamers are disappointed with some design decisions regarding the new map, including its size and openness.
October 28 was supposed to be a huge day for Battlefield 6 players, with both Season One starting and the addition of Battlefield REDSEC, a free-to-play battle royale game mode. However, problems started as soon as the new content was available, with gamers facing long login queues to play Battlefield 6. Unfortunately, yet another issue has seemingly plagued the launch.
Battlefield 6 Weapon Tier List
Battlefield 6 launches with 45 weapons. Here’s a quick tier list ranking them all, from top meta picks to ones you might want to skip.
Battlefield 6 Players Think Blackwell Fields is Too Small and Open
Battlefield 6 players are simply not very enthusiastic about “Blackfield Fields.” A Reddit post with over 3,000 upvotes called it “the worst map in Battlefield history,” and many other gamers enumerated all the map’s problems. The most apparent one is that the new map is small, linear, and too open. With map boundaries set the way they are, players are all funneled into the same spot, and the areas do not have enough points of interest, so snipers can take out players fairly quickly, sometimes as soon as they spawn. Others have complained that the bases are too close to each other, which makes the problem even more prominent.
To make matters worse, the map also has some weird glitches, such as one shared by a player who started flying suddenly while walking around. Others have pointed out that there are too many vehicles for a tiny map, no verticality, and it’s impossible to flank enemies from some places. Overall, the community seems to think that this is a pretty poor experience, which contrasts with how well Battlefield 6 was generally received.
Perhaps even more aggravating is that players have been complaining that Battlefield 6’s maps are too small for a while, and the first new area does not seem to improve the situation at all. While some of the 1.0 maps were indeed larger than the ones seen in the beta, it’s fair to say that Battlefield 6 is still suffering from mostly small areas.
Fortunately, it seems that some fans are excited about Battlefield REDSEC’s map. The battle royale area is called Fort Lydon, and it has a total of 21 locations. So, if gamers get tired of the new Season One map, at least they can play REDSEC and have an arena with far more choices to pick from.
