It's no secret that the last few Battlefield entries haven't exactly been the powerhouse hits that fans, or EA, expect to see from the seasoned shooter franchise. So, naturally, there's a lot of pressure on Battlefield 6 to turn the ship around and deliver a proper return to form, one that simultaneously brings long-time fans of the series back while ushering in a new generation of players. That's an incredibly tall order, but against all odds, Battlefield 6 might actually be able to pull it off.

A week ago, Battlefield 6 revealed its multiplayer component for the very first time. General impressions from the creators and press who were able to play the game early were very positive, and now fans have an opportunity to form their own opinion, with the Battlefield 6 Open Beta almost in full swing. Already available for those who were given an early access code, Battlefield 6's Open Beta is already thrusting the new military shooter into the mainstream spotlight, but it's far from the only multiplayer game making it into headlines this weekend.

Battlefield 6 Is Going To Have a Big Weekend

Battlefield 6 confirms it will use bots to fill lobbies.

The Battlefield 6 Open Beta already has a peak player-count of 334,549, according to tracking site SteamDB. That's only taking into account those playing via Steam, and the Beta is only available right now to those who obtained an early access code from EA. To put things into perspective, Call of Duty has a 24-hour peak of 57,220 on SteamDB at the time of writing.

Even in its infancy, Battlefield 6's Open Beta is already proving to be a major moment in modern gaming. On top of its remarkably high player-count, Battlefield 6 is also enjoying plenty of mainstream media attention, with multiple big-name streamers playing the game, and countless gameplay clips circulating social media platforms. And this is just the start for Battlefield 6's Open Beta.

On August 9 at 1am PDT/4am EDT, anyone who's interested in trying out Battlefield 6 will be able to jump into the Open Beta, on both PC and consoles. This will undoubtedly have a significant impact on Battlefield 6's peak player-count, and could lead to the game taking up even more of the current pop-culture spotlight. But Battlefield 6 isn't the only game vying for people's attention this weekend.
