Many Battlefield 6 players are reporting problems with accessing multiple game modes, as apparent problems with the EA launcher are preventing them from diving into the game. October 10 marks Battlefield 6's highly anticipated launch, and while it's already putting up some impressive player numbers, fans are reporting they can't get past the front gate to access either the campaign or PVP multiplayer modes.

Despite being released just a few hours ago, the latest entry in EA's celebrated military FPS series is already a smashing success for the publisher and the four studios that make up developer Battlefield Studios. Battlefield 6 sales on Steam alone have already reportedly topped 1.8 million units, generating more than $100 million in revenue, which doesn't even account for how well the game may be doing on Xbox or PlayStation consoles.

Battlefield 6 is Officially Live Now, But Players Are Dealing With Massive Server Queues

Battlefield 6 servers are officially live, but players are running into massive queues while trying to play the game.

Some Battlefield 6 Players Can't Play on Launch Day

While long queue times for online multiplayer games on launch day are to be expected, especially regarding games with massive player counts like Battlefield 6, many players are reporting additional problems blocking them from gameplay even after they've waited for their place in line. Multiple reports from sources like Twitter and Reddit indicate that players who bought the game directly through the EA launcher are being denied access, instead receiving error messages. These messages indicate that players are missing necessary content on their gaming devices and that they must "purchase to play" despite having already reportedly paid full price for the game. Reports from players indicate that reinstalling the game has not led to positive results.

There are multiple game modes available in Battlefield 6, including a nine-mission-long campaign and competitive multiplayer modes that include Breakthrough, Conquest, Domination, Escalation, King of the Hill, Rush, and both squad and team Deathmatch modes. Players experiencing these issues appear to be locked out of all of these game modes on launch day, which is eliciting angry reactions from Battlefield fans, some of whom are demanding compensation from EA, up to and including full refunds. Interestingly, the apparent error isn't blocking players from launching the game entirely, though having to sit through long wait times for matches before the problem rears its ugly head only seems to be exacerbating the issue.

Some players have also been reporting similar problems on Steam. However, this does not seem to be an issue directly related to EA, and it seems relatively easy to solve. Players having trouble accessing game modes on Steam may want to try clearing the download cache under Steam's settings menu, which should allow for the download of the launch-day patch for Battlefield 6, granting access to these modes.
