Battlefield 6 has made its way onto the scene, and it's proving to be a hit among both longtime fans of the series and FPS lovers in general. The hype surrounding Battlefield 6 has given the game some massive expectations to live up to, and thankfully, its launch weekend has been able to stick the landing.

When it comes to multiplayer matches, most players have their specific class preferences, and the Engineer class is one of the game's most useful roles, as these players are tasked with repairing vehicles while also taking down enemy ones. Engineers have some great tools at their disposal, but one of the most important is a handy blowtorch aptly named the Repair Tool. This item is usually utilized for fixing things, but some Engineers have been using it in a way that feels like it's been taken straight from the Soulslike playbook.

Battlefield 6's Engineers Are Leaving Soulslike-esque Messages During Matches

  • Engineers are using the Repair Tool to communicate funny messages to other players.
  • A player-to-player messaging system is a defining characteristic of FromSoftware's Soulslike games.

When Demon's Souls was released back in 2009, developer FromSoftware made waves with its own brand of in-game messaging. Although Demon's Souls was mainly intended as a single-player experience, the game's online components brought forth a fun messaging system that continues to be a signature part of many of FromSofware's projects. Demon's Souls kickstarted the Soulslike genre, and since then, players have continued to leave messages for others, whether it be Elden Ring or Dark Souls. Battlefield 6's features may not actually include a full-blown Soulslike messaging system, but the approach being taken by some Engineers definitely feels reminiscent.

Like this post from Reddit user Beningham94, others Engineers have been communicating with cheeky messages. Whether it's a statement about medics or NSFW messages (and there are many), the Engineer-specific tool has paved the way for players to communicate in a way that isn't intrusive but still gets the messages across. Battlefield 6's multiplayer maps can easily be turned into billboards because of the torch, and it sets the stage for some hilariously absurd reminders.

Messages like, "Remember to revive your teammates" are both amusingly passive-aggressive and solid advice, and it's a simple, but effective, way to remind players how important teamwork is in Battlefield 6. It's an essential part of the experience, and for newcomers who may not be aware, these Engineer messages could be a solid teaching method.

Battlefield 6 is Off to a Massive Start

  • Battlefield 6 has dominated the sales charts.
  • The game made $100 million on its first day on Steam.
  • On launch day, the Steam peak player count was over 700,000 participants.

Leading up to the game's launch, the anticipation for Battlefield 6 was at an all-time high, and the FPS title has come out swinging. The history of the Battlefield franchise hasn't always been smooth sailing, and even though Battlefield 6 isn't perfect, it's a fantastic action-packed return to its roots. With its main competitor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, right around the corner, it looks like Battlefield 6 may have a leg up on the competition, at least for now.

Despite the strong launch numbers, Battlefield 6's opening weekend still had issues with long queue times, EA App problems, and cheaters.

Of course, only time will tell which title comes out on top, but Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7 closing out the year with a head-to-head showdown is a thrilling way to end 2025. Regardless, Battlefield 6 has proven to be one of the biggest launches of the year, so far, and it will be fascinating to see what the game has in store in its first year.
